ABSTRACT:The first issue of Business Ethics Quarterly was launched in 1991. At that time there were few general principles that could serve as guidelines for global business. However, since 1991 a plethora of such principles have been developed to serve as guidelines and evaluative mechanisms for global corporate responsibilities. But operationalizing these principles in practice has been a challenge for most transnational corporations and even for smaller, more local enterprises. This is because, in some cases, the principles ask too much of companies. In other cases, the principles are ambiguous. And in still other cases, the principles, written by and large from a Western, rights-based perspective, cannot be operationalized in some cultural or religious settings. In this paper I will outline a series of dilemmas multinational enterprises face in the global market place, even when they sincerely sign on to one or another set of principles. These problems are not insurmountable, but in the imperfect world of commerce, require that our expectations of corporate responsibilities be satisficing rather than absolutist.

Starbucks as well as other companies requires loyalty from its customers to increase the quantity of sales. However, it seems that Starbucks does not care about the loyalty of Muslim customers. This is evident from the Starbucks support campaign for LGBT which is clearly the opposite of Islamic teachings. Because, if Muslims are loyal to Starbucks who are known to support LGBT, it means that Muslims play a role in supporting LGBT. The purpose of this study is to find out Muslim consumer loyalty to Starbucks after Starbucks supported LGBT and also to find out Muslim consumers' responses to Starbucks for providing support Starbucks Coffee in the LGBT community. This study was conducted using qualitative methods. In this study the authors found that Starbucks support for LGBT is an act that violates business ethics in the scope of social responsibility. Moreover LGBT is a for acts that are forbidden in Islam. So Starbucks support for LGBT actions received a positive response from Muslim consumers. From informants who were questioned there was not one informant who agreed with Starbucks Coffee's support for LGBT. 3 of the 5 informants lost their loyalty to Starbucks and reluctant to go back to Starbucks.

The main goal of the chapter is to present how to use qualitative methods in sustainability research. First, the theoretical basis of the methods is presented, i.e., the essence of qualitative methods, what differs them from quantitative methods, and their types. The second part of this chapter covers designing and conducting a focus group interview (FGI): its essence and main stages, sampling, projection techniques and the script, as well as it contains the case study of ecological culture of Bulgarians. The third part presents considerations necessary to conduct a qualitative research, i.e., the organizational aspects of FGI and the guidelines for the work of the moderator. Finally, the last part shows considerations concerning data analysis—using CAQDAS software.

ABSTRACT:In this address I argue that different perspectives on the normative foundations of corporate responsibility reflect underlying disagreements about the ideal arrangement of tasks between market and state. I initially recommend that scholars look back to the “division of moral labor” inspired by John Rawls’ seminal work on distributive justice in order to rethink why, and to what extent, corporations take on responsibilities normally within the purview of government. I then examine how this notion is related to recent theoretical work in the field of business ethics. I thereafter turn to provide a brief outline of an alternative view that sees corporations as having responsibilities in so far as markets are sites of delegated oversight over the production of social goods that might otherwise be administered by the state.
