Despite the enormous renewable energy (RE) resources available in Ghana, the country has not seen much development and investments in the sector. Therefore, the government has committed to increasing the share of RE in the country’s electricity generation mix to some 10% by 2030. However, this cannot be achieved without the Ghanaian people’s support since the RE sector is capital intensive and requires both public and private sector participation. This study was conducted to evaluate RE’s social acceptance among Ghanaian people using the ordered logit regression model. A total of 999 valid questionnaires out of 1020 distributed questionnaires were considered for the study. The five-point Likert scale was employed to rank their willingness to accept (WTA) RE. From the results, it was observed that there is a general sense of acceptance of renewable energy among Ghanaians. However, the level of acceptance varies from one respondent to another. The study observed that a majority of the respondents (i.e., approximately 45.65%) agree to their WTA renewable energy, while 36.04% strongly agree. The results also indicate that while 6.21% and 0.3% disagree and strongly disagree, 11.81% of the respondents were indifferent regarding their willingness to accept renewable energy development and utilization in Ghana.

To develop and take advantage of solar energy resources in coral reefs, the paper discussed the problems about local solar resources, typhoon, corrosion, geology, transportations and installation. The analysis indicates that the typhoon-prone, serious corrosion and bad geology will cause many difficulties to installation and use of solar power equipments. Authors believe that, installing and using small solar power equipment in coral reefs is feasible, but the suitable measure of anti-typhoon, anti-corrosion, transportation, installation and maintenance must be accepted, which needs a great deal of budget support.

Oil belongs to nonrenewable resources. With the oil supply relatively limited and the global economy enters a fast development cycle and oil demand is increasing, oil prices rising is inevitable. Impact of high oil prices is deep and continuous, will change our country’s energy production and consumption structure. As China’s largest offshore oil and gas producers, China’s CNOOC must take positive and correct development strategy, and energetically develop and use of in the new energy, and provide high quality energy for our country’s economic and social development. This paper expounds some effort in the field of new energy development and utilization of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation(CNOOC), mainly including wind power development, bio-fuels development, natural gas hydrate recover and so on.

The hydro-photovoltaic complementarity is an important operation mode to promote the grid-connected absorption, and one of the main directions of solar energy development and utilization in the future. The paper expounds the principle of hydro-photovoltaic complementarity and the influence of the installed ratio on economy, also summarizes and analyzes the research results of hydro-photovoltaic complementary system operation scheduling methods. In view of the uncertainty of hydro-photovoltaic complementary generation, the paper proposes several suggestions and expectations for the study of hydro-photovoltaic complementarity, to provide ideas for improve the economy and reliability of short-term and large-scale hydro-photovoltaic complementary operation.
