The present study investigated to what degree teachers’ personality traits, cognitive abilities, and academic abilities (high school GPA), which were assessed at the end of high school as well as grades from the first and second state examinations of teacher education, predict later instructional quality. The study combined ratings of instructional quality from 3,768 German secondary school students and their 113 teachers with up to 10 years between assessment of teachers’ personality traits, cognitive abilities, as well as academic abilities at the end of high school and student ratings of instructional quality. Multilevel regression analyses revealed that agreeableness, high school GPA, and the second state examination grade predicted teachers’ instructional quality.

Kata kunci: Komparasi, SAW, MOORA, Pemilihan Jurusan   Abstract  - SMAN 108 Jakarta is one of the high schools in the south Jakarta area, in the 108 Jakarta High School, the selection of majors is usually done in odd semester by class X students. The school is divided into two majors namely science and social majors. The selection of majors for them was introduced as an effort to direct students towards their students' talents and interests and academic abilities. The purpose of this department selection is for students to more easily determine the department according to their wishes. Determination of the selection of majors indeed proved very difficult for students or parents of students in the current era. The method used in decision making in the selection of majors in this study uses the SAW and MOORA methods by comparing the implementation and results of the calculation of the two methods so as to produce the best and most consistent decisions. The results of the calculation of the two methods make Anggini Sarah the largest value with the SAW calculation value of 24,600 and the MOORA method calculation result of 10.451 being the chosen major, IPA.   Keywords: Comparison, SAW, MOORA, Selection of Departments

This study examines associations between financial education and financial literacy among people with different levels of education and income using a large, national data set, the 2015 National Financial Capability Study. This study estimates whether financial education in high school, college, or through an employer, is associated with a person's financial literacy score. Results show that people who received any financial education are likely to have higher financial literacy scores compared to those without financial education. Financial education has larger predicted probabilities for those with lower education and income, suggesting that financial education is especially important for this demographic group. This research emphasizes a need to teach financial education to people whom previous research suggests lacks financial literacy the most.

This article examines the logic underlying different models for assessing the college readiness of high school students. It focuses on benchmark scores that purportedly identify students who are college ready and presents the challenges of using threshold scores from a single assessment instrument to represent readiness. As well as providing logical and methodological reasons to be wary of threshold scores, analyses of Minnesota and national data illustrate their shortcomings. The article argues that assessments of college readiness should (a) use benchmarks with meaning and consequences for students, (b) employ multiple measures to provide readiness information more precise than from a threshold score derived from any single assessment, and (c) present readiness in terms of probabilities or likelihoods rather than as ready or not.

Psychologists argue that individuals’ choice, persistence, and drive expended in performance can be predicted and explained basically by their self-efficacy and motivation. Research on self-efficacy theory has examined the contribution of students' emerging perceptions of their academic abilities, and confidence that they can finish specific academic tasks, predictions about educational outcomes, and interpretation of success and experiences. Hence, the study intends to assess the level of one's capability to achieve and accomplish specific tasks and factors that might influence their motivation towards the academic performance among students in a Catholic high school in Antique with parents working abroad. Likewise, it explores whether self-efficacy relates to the academic motivation of students.

High school cosmetology students study the methods and effects of various human hair treatments, including permanents, straightening, conditioning, coloring and cutting. Although they are provided with textbook examples of overtreatment and numerous hair disorders and diseases, a view of an individual hair at the high resolution offered by an SEM provides convincing evidence of the hair‘s altered structure. Magnifications up to 2000X provide dramatic differences in perspective. A good quality classroom optical microscope can be very informative at lower resolutions.Students in a cosmetology class are initially split into two groups. One group is taught basic controls on the SEM (focus, magnification, brightness, contrast, specimen X, Y, and Z axis movements). A healthy, untreated piece of hair is initially examined on the SEM The second group cements a piece of their own hair on a stub. The samples are dryed quickly using heat or vacuum while the groups trade places and activities.
