ZnO/Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] nanocomposites were prepared via a facile hydrothermal method by loading different amounts of ZnO onto the surface of Bi4V2O[Formula: see text]. The resulting ZnO/Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] composites showed excellent photocatalytic activity than that of pure ZnO under visible light irradiation. When the ratio of ZnO to Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] was 1:1 (ZB2), the photocatalytic activity was best, which could degrade RhB almost completely within 30[Formula: see text]min. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of ZnO/Bi4V2O[Formula: see text] composites could be mainly ascribed to the efficient charge separation and the increased specific surface area. Based on the experimental and bandgap calculations, a possible photocatalytic mechanism was proposed.

Flower-like rutile TiO2 mesocrystals were synthesized by a K2TiO(C2O4)2-mediated low temperature solution route under the atmospheric pressure, which exhibited high photocatalytic activity because of the large specific surface area as well as the high charge separation rate inherent from the single crystal nature.

Stannic oxide-titanium dioxide (SnO2–TiO2) coupled semiconductor photocatalyst loaded with polyaniline (PANI), a conducting polymer, possesses a high photocatalytic activity in oxidation of 1-octene to 1,2-epoxyoctane with aqueous hydrogen peroxide. The photocatalyst was prepared by impregnation ofSnO2and followed by attachment of PANI onto aTiO2powder to give sample PANI-SnO2–TiO2. The electrical conductivity of the system becomes high in the presence of PANI. Enhanced photocatalytic activity was observed in the case of PANI-SnO2–TiO2compared to PANI-TiO2,SnO2–TiO2, andTiO2. A higher photocatalytic activity in the oxidation of 1-octene on PANI-SnO2–TiO2thanSnO2–TiO2, PANI-TiO2, andTiO2can be considered as an evidence of enhanced charge separation of PANI-SnO2–TiO2photocatalyst as confirmed by photoluminescence spectroscopy. It suggests that photoinjected electrons are tunneled fromTiO2toSnO2and then to PANI in order to allow wider separation of excited carriers.

The synthesis of photocatalysts with high charge separation and transfer efficiency are of immense significance in the process of using photocatalysis technology for wastewater treatment. In this study core shell g-C3N4@ZnO, and ZnO defects photocatalysts presented an improved morphology in its characterization using techniques such as SEM, DRS, PL, MS, EIS, and XRD, and enhanced photodegradation of sulfamethoxazole, Nitenpyram and Tetracycline. Different composites were obtained as confirmed by the various characterization techniques studied, including core shell g-C3N4@ZnO, and ZnO defects photocatalyst. The synthesized photocatalysts showed high visible light absorption efficiency within a range of ~655 to 420 nm. Core shell g-C3N4@ZnO, and ZnO defects photocatalysts demonstrated high photocatalytic activity ascribed to high load separation and transition as shown in PL, Photocurrent reaction and EIS. It is understandable that core shell g-C3N4@ZnO, and ZnO defects photocatalysts have been confirmed to be one of the ultimate promising entrants for photocatalyst scheming.
