AbstractConducting polymers are interesting materials due to their wide range of applications in electronics, sensing, photonics and display applications. The present paper delineates the synthesis and characterization of the three functionalized poly (p-phenylene)s (PPP) (A-C) and solution properties of the polymers. The self-assembly of the polymers were investigated on various substrates and the optical/morphological properties of thin films of these polymers were also studied. The spontaneous self assembly of the modified PPP's lead to the formation of thin films on both hydrophilic and modified surfaces.

In this work, we report on the synthesis and characterization of two fulleropyrrolidines bearing porphyrin/phthalocyanine and bis-phthalocyanine tweezers. The self-assembly properties in different solvents have been investigated by AFM and SEM. When deposited on surface from dichloromethane solutions, the fullerene derivatives formed aggregates of ca. 4–8 nm in height while hollow nanospheres with diameters of ca. 300–1000 nm are obtained from crystallization attempts.

Reported is characterization of the self-assembly of π-conjugated oligomers, molecules studied recently in photovoltaic devices, using variable temperature diffusion ordered spectroscopy; the approach has allowed estimation of assembly size, shape, and molecularity.

A new-type foam composites were fabricated by baking method from a mixture of cassava starch. A central composite design was constructed using the software Statistics Analysis System 9.0 to evaluate the static compression stress of foamed material. The optimum dosages of adhesive, foaming agent, catalyst were 2.0g, 6.0g, 2.4g, respectively; reaction temperature 65°C; reaction time 16 hour.
