The article deals with the problematic issues and features of further development of iron ore deposits at great depths (over 400 m). The necessity of wide application of innovative competitive technologies for ore mining by open method and an increase in the efficiency of mineral processing in the conditions of modern trends of sustainable development is substantiated. To solve this problem, a systematic approach is applied based on the consideration of all technological processes, taking into account the impact of mining operations on the environment as a single organizational and technological complex. It is proposed to use the Neumann-Gale model as an economic and mathematical model for assessing the investment activity of mining enterprises, which takes into account the influence of the environmental factor on the efficiency of their functioning. Approbation of the model was performed at the PJSC “Southern Mining Factory” as an example of production and economic activity. The priority measures are presented for the implementation of ecologically balanced strategies in terms of environmental protection for sustainable development at modern mining enterprises in difficult economic conditions and uncertainty of price characteristics in the markets of iron ore raw materials.

The essence and expediency in the use of partial indicators of economic efficiency evaluation and selection of environmental activities in the development of iron ore deposits in different mining conditions of its exploitation is identified. Methodical approach to economic evaluation of the effectiveness of environmental measures during developing of iron ore deposits by using of index environmental and economic changes level of the environment, specific costs for environmental protection and economic intensity of violations of the environment was improved. The generalized indicator of economic efficiency of production ecologization at enterprises of mining and processing of ore raw materials is grounded. Levels of this indicator by the character of environmental activities of the enterprise, the stability of its interaction with nature and level on environmental-safety, are allocated. The methodical substantiation of evaluation criteria and methods for measuring the cost-effectiveness of environmental measures during exploitation of iron ore deposits and practical aspects of assessing the level of ecologization of open-pit and underground mining in relation to the economy of mining enterprises are given.

Specific characteristics of iron ore deposits in Ljubija ore region are given by pelitoid iron ores (,,brand“) which occupy a substantial part of iron mineral resources, on which industrial production of natural iron oxide – pigments depends. This particular technology type of iron ore deposits, until recently was waste from mining production, and now when it is possible to implement new technological processes, that waste became an important commercial product. This paper presents the results of detailed geological research which lasted for a few years, as well as laboratory and tehnological tests. It presents the new data on the metallogenetic characteristics of the environment where iron oxides originate as a raw material for mineral pigments. In this paper, we answered and resolved dilemma about brand identity in adequate genetic iron types in Ljubija mining regions, about their specificity as well as the ore formations and geohistorical development. Through the technological characterization of the ore and its domain of application, we provide the basis for economic evaluation of the deposits of this very important mineral resource.

The ferriferous-siliceous formation of the Kryvyi Rih Basin has been formed   as a result of the effect of different geological processes: sedimentation, diagenesis, dynamothermal metamorphism, metasomatosis, orogenesis, hypergenesis. Hypergenic changes are manifested to a different extent within iron ore deposits of the Kryvyi Rih Basin. In the south part of the basin, thickness of the weathering rind in some places reaches 1,000-1,500 m, it is up to 2,500 in the central, and in the northern part this parameter is much lower. Hypergenic processes are observed in the sections of all stratigraphic horizons of the Saksahanska suite of the iron ore deposits of the Kryvyi Rih Basin. The thickness of their manifestations changes depending on the horizon (schist, ferriferous). Therefore, over the study, we determined the impact of stratigraphic horizon on variance of thickness of the weathering rind within the northern area of the Kryvyi Rih basin, on example of the Hannivsk deposit. The surveys were performed in all hypsometric levels of the deposit. Schematic sections of the deposit`s weathering rind were made. The products of hypergenesis are hematite quartzites with qualitative parameters (total content of iron) no lower than in magnetic quartzites. In some deposits, the reserves of the hematite quartzites are quite large, but they are not being extracted. For more detailed study of the structure of the weathering rind, manifestation of its vertical zonation was investigated, a schematic section of the weathering ring within the ferriferous-siliceous formation of the deposit was made designating all mineralogical zones. We studied the variance of mineral composition of the ferriferous rocks depending on the manifestation of horizontal zonation of the weathering rind and impact of hypergenic processes on authigenic-metamorphogenic zonation of the productivity of the deposit`s layer. We developed a scheme of mineralogical zonation of the weathering rind, therefore facilitating the enlargement of the mineral-ore base of the Hannivsk deposit and the Kryvyi Rih Basin in general for further extraction and beneficiation of hematite quartzites.

Sustainable development is a global objective that aims to address the societal challenge of climate action, the environment, resource efficiency, and raw materials. In this sense, an important strategy is the promotion of green packaging, that is, the use of sustainable materials and designs for the packaging of goods. In recent years, many research works have been published in the specialised area covering the different perspectives and dimensions of green packaging. However, to our knowledge, no previous investigations have analysed the research activity on green packaging from business and consumer perspectives. The present study intends to fill this gap by analysing all of the publications found in the Scopus database with the help of visual analytic tools, including word clouds and Gephi network visualization software. More specifically, our study analyses the impact of green packaging from business and consumer viewpoints, including some specific issues such as the design and materials used in green packaging, green packaging costs, marketing strategies and corporate social responsibility related to green packaging, and the impact of green packaging in waste management, the circular economy, logistics, and supply chain management. The results obtained reveal the growing interest of scholars and researchers in all of these dimensions, as is made patently clear by the increasing number of journal publications in recent years. The practical implications of this study are significant, given the growing awareness among companies and consumers about the importance of the promotion of sustainable development through green packaging alternatives. More specifically, the results of this research could be very useful for all of those agents who are interested in learning about the main lines of research being developed in the field of green packaging.
