In recent years, the glutenite reservoirs are the hot spots of oil and gas exploration. However, the glutenite has various lithologic types, diverse rock components, complex pore structure and strong reservoir heterogeneity, which makes it difficult to accurately calculate the reservoir permeability. Permeability is an important parameter in the later development of reservoir. In order to accurately calculate the permeability of glutenite reservoir, taking the glutenite in the upper fourth member of Shahejie Formation in the northern steep of DX Sag as an example, the lithology and physical properties of the reservoir are analyzed and summarized by comprehensive utilization of logging, core description, scanning electron microscope and other data. On this basis, lithology classification, theoretical derivation and multiple regression methods are used to establish the permeability calculation model of glutenite reservoir, and three types of permeability calculation models are obtained. The advantages and disadvantages of different interpretation models and their causes are compared. The calculation model by theoretical derivation has the highest correlation coefficient (R2=0.9), but the logarithmic regression formula (R2=0.88) has better applicability.

Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is a serious issue in the oil and gas industry, with failures often occurring without warning and having devastating effect. When expensive redesign is not possible or practical, operators have a number of options open to them to mitigate the risk of CUI; these include the use of various protective coatings or thermally sprayed metals. Despite a number of technologies presently available, the industry is yet to establish an accepted laboratory test method for the performance benchmarking of products. This has, in the past, damaged confidence in some solutions and hampered the selection and further development of CUI coatings. As a result, the subject of accelerated laboratory testing for CUI coatings is now receiving significant attention across the industry with joint industry programs proposed in both Europe and North America. This paper will examine state-of-the-art accelerated CUI testing, evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of the existing methods available. It will then offer a detailed description of a test method that has been in use since 2004, testing more than 300 specimens and assessing a wide range of coating technologies. The reproducibility of the test program will be established by the presentation of a range of data including results obtained from a third-party test house. The third-party results will then be correlated with a seven-year case study from an end user perspective provided by Santos, a major Australian oil and gas exploration and production company, from experiences at their Port Bonython facility in SA.

For many offshore activities, including offshore oil and gas exploration and offshore wind farm construction, it is essential to keep the position and heading of the vessel stable. The dynamic positioning system is a progressive technology, which is extensively used in shipping and other maritime structures. To maintain the vessels or platforms from displacement, its thrusters are used automatically to control and stabilize the position and heading of vessels in sea state disturbances. The theory of dynamic positioning has been studied and developed in terms of control techniques to achieve greater accuracy and reduce ship movement caused by environmental disturbance for more than 30 years. This paper reviews the control strategies and architecture of the DPS in marine vessels. In addition, it suggests possible control principles and makes a comparison between the advantages and disadvantages of existing literature. Some details for future research on DP control challenges are discussed in this paper.

Guided by the theory of petroleum system, we analyzed hydrocarbon accumulation elements and conditions of the Shahejie Formation in Tangzhuang area and concluded the hydrocarbon accumulation model based on the geological and geophysical data. Hydrocarbon comes from the source rock of Es3 in Linyi sub-sag located to the southeast of Tangzhuang area. Reservoir mainly is clastic, followed by carbonate. There are 4 source-reservoir-cap assemblages in the Shahejie Formation. The Es3 source rock of different tectonic units in Linnan sub-sag has experienced different hydrocarbon generation stages. The central region experienced two hydrocarbon generation stages while the edge only experienced one stage. The hydrocarbon generated by the source rock of Es3 in Linnan sub-sag mainly migrated to Tangzhuang area along fault and sand body. The structural trap is the dominant type followed by structure-lithologic trap and lithologic trap. Based on the analysis of hydrocarbon accumulation condition, we concluded the lower generating and upper reserving model of the study area. The findings will play an important role in guiding Tangzhuang oil and gas exploration.

Subject. The study analyzes generally accepted approaches to assessing the value of companies on the basis of financial statement data of ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Occidental Petroleum, Devon Energy, Anadarko Petroleum, EOG Resources, Apache, Marathon Oil, Imperial Oil, Suncor Energy, Husky Energy, Canadian Natural Resources, Royal Dutch Shell, Gazprom, Rosneft, LUKOIL, and others, for 1999—2018. Objectives. The aim is to determine the specifics of using the methods of cost, DFC, and comparative approaches to assessing the value of share capital of oil and gas companies. Methods. The study employs methods of statistical analysis and generalization of materials of scientific articles and official annual reports on the results of financial and economic activities of the largest public oil and gas corporations. Results. Based on the results of a comprehensive analysis, I identified advantages and disadvantages of standard approaches to assessing the value of oil and gas producers. Conclusions. The paper describes pros and cons of the said approaches. For instance, the cost approach is acceptable for assessing the minimum cost of small companies in the industry. The DFC-based approach complicates the reliability of medium-term forecasts for oil prices due to fluctuations in oil prices inherent in the industry, on which the net profit and free cash flow of companies depend to a large extent. The comparative approach enables to quickly determine the range of possible value of the corporation based on transactions data and current market situation.

Considering the pollution on the environment using dynamite source in oil and gas exploration, harm and damage to people and building, the vehicle mounted hammer source which can replace dynamite source is presented. This paper describes briefly the basic structure and working principles of the vehicle mounted hammer source. A typical pneumatic circuit is researched and designed. And the pneumatic circuit is designed with the powerful functions of PLC, the hardware and software design are introduced. The system has advantages of strong striking force, high velocity, small gas consumption, simple structure and convenient control.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence (Adams 1770). Some people unfamiliar with upstream petroleum operations, some enterprises keen to sustain uncontested land use, and some people against the use of fossil fuels have and will voice opposition to land access for oil and gas exploration and production. Social and economic concerns have also arisen with Australian domestic gas prices tending towards parity with netbacks from liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. No doubt, natural gas, LNG and crude-oil prices will vary with local-to-international supply-side and demand-side competition. Hence, well run Australian oil and gas producers deploy stress-tested exploration, delineation and development budgets. With these challenges in mind, successive governments in South Australia have implemented leading-practice legislation, regulation, policies and programs to simultaneously gain and sustain trust with the public and investors with regard to land access for trustworthy oil and gas operations. South Australia’s most recent initiatives to foster reserve growth through welcomed investment in responsible oil and gas operations include the following: a Roundtable for Oil and Gas; evergreen answers to frequently asked questions, grouped retention licences that accelerate investment in the best of play trends; the Plan for ACcelerating Exploration (PACE) Gas Program; and the Oil and Gas Royalty Return Program. Intended and actual outcomes from these initiatives are addressed in this extended abstract.
