The aim was to design a MATLAB program to calculate the phreatic surface of the multi-well system and present the graphical shape of the water table drawdown induced by water extraction. Dupuit’s assumption is the base for representing the dewatering curve. The program will offer the volume of water to be extracted, the total number of wells, and the spacing between them as well as the expected settlement of soil surrounding the dewatering foundation pit. The dewatering well arrangement is required in execution works, and it needs more attention due to the settlement produced from increasing effective stress.

Eucalypt trees growing on deep soils, with a water table at about 8 m depth, showed no apparent drought effects during the 1982-83 dry period in south-east Australia when gross precipitation was only 388 mm. At the end of the drought, soil water to 4 m depth was depleted to a soil water potential of -0.5 MPa and under these conditions unsaturated flow from the water table to the lower root zone was calculated to be 0.17 mm day-1. Water extraction over the depth interval from 0 to 6 m in the drought year was 533 mm, some 200 mm in excess of that used during a year of average rainfall. The contribution to tree water use from unsaturated flow from the water table was calculated to be small (15 mm) even in a drought year, and in most years water movement would be towards the water table to yield a deep drainage term estimated between 40 and 100 mm. Growth ring studies indicated that the lower water use, estimated at 2.6 mm day-1 during the spring-summer drought, did not affect the slowly growing E. radiata species, but reduced stem diameter growth of the faster growing E. dalrympleana and E. pauciflora species.

Field monitoring datum of a foundation pit are reviewed and analyzed to explain the settlement of adjacent structures. Settlements of adjacent structures induced by the water level fall are calculated through the principle of effective stress in saturated soil and the stratified summation method. The calculated settlement 31.93mm is close to the observed value 28.8mm. This confirms the effective stress increased by the leakage is the main cause of the settlement of adjacent structure.

In the civil engineering construction, with the building load of building construction or adding storeys, foundation pit dewatering, embankment filling , over time, the pore water stress that is borne by pore water in the foundation decreases gradually, the effective stress that is borne by particle increases gradually, the foundation bearing capacity increases gradually, we use different methods to derive the variation law in the theoretical solution, and carry on the comparison, then get the same conclusion. By using theory to solve the frequently encountered problems during civil engineering construction, including the problems of building construction or adding storeys, foundation pit dewatering, embankment filling, it provides theory basis for both economical and safe civil engineering construction .

Abstract. A transient, mixed analytical-numerical model of hillslope hydrological behaviour is used to study the patterns of infiltration, evapotranspiration, recharge and lateral flow across hillslopes. Computational efficiency is achieved by treating infiltration and phreatic surface movement analytically. The influence of dynamic coupling of the saturated and unsaturated zones on the division of hillslopes into units of distinct hydrological behaviour is analyzed. The results indicate the importance of downhill groundwater flow on the lateral distribution of soil moisture and hydrological fluxes; unsaturated lateral flow is shown to be of relatively minor importance. For most conditions, the hillslope organizes itself into three distinct regions; an uphill recharge and a downhill discharge zone separated by a midline zone over which there is, on average, no recharge or discharge. A temporal perturbation analysis of the phreatic surface, made to quantify the deviations between the equivalent-steady water table derived by Salvucci and Entekhabi (1995) and the long-term mean water table, shows that the equivalent-steady water table effectively couples the unsaturated and saturated zone dynamics across storm and interstorm periods and divides the hillslope into distinct hydrological regions. The second order closure terms in the perturbation analysis, expressed as the gradient of water table variance, quantify the deviations and tend to make the hydrological zones relatively less distinct.

: A technique is proposed to decide the priority of out of transformer for repairing or replacement. Based on voltage stability, priority is assign for repairing or replacing the particular transformer. By using this method, number of out of service transformers in the transmission line can be find out and can be replaced or repair. The technique has been implemented in Matlab software, which is used to rank all the out of service transformer in the system. This Matlab program has been developed to conduct load-flow including Voltage Stability Index. This index ranks all the line. Transformer located at weakest line should be repaired first technically. The proposed method in this paper aims on the reliability of the system.

In this paper the Takagi-Sugeno type fuzzy logic was utilized for the purpose of control of electromagnetically levitated steel ball system. The system is the basis for important systems such as, the modern train which floats along the rails, aerospace shuttles, magnetic bearings and high precision systems. Such systems apart from being nonlinear they are also not stable. Results were obtained using the SIMULINK/MATLAB software and the control system developed for the electromagnetically levitated steel ball system was able to stabilize it with good response.

Engineering dewatering not only makes soil release gravity water, increasing soil self-weight stress, but also lead to seepage occur along the two sides of waterproof curtain driven by water head difference inside and outside the pit, forming a hydrodynamic pressure, which are the main reasons causing ground settlement. In this paper, the equation of groundwater level drawdown funnel curve firstly is deduced, then we investigate the total effective stress increments of foundation pit soil with seepage works alone as well as both gravity drainage and seepage effect work together, and obtained the formulas for soil effective stress increment calculation. Studies show that the shape of soil settlement cross-section is closely related to the characters of water drawdown funnel curve.

This paper simply describes basic principles of the honing machine. And using MATLAB software this paper carries out frequency-domain analysis and time-domain analysis of this system. According to actual processing situation putting forward to control overshoot. Because this system cannot meet the needs, utilizing PID to adjust this system. At the same time putting parameters obtained from PID adjustment as initial value, this paper carries out optimization, and gets a better result.
