In order to group winter rapeseed cultivars according to evaluated traits, an experiment was conducted in the Research Greenhouse of Agriculture Faculty, University of Tabriz - IRAN. In the experiment were included 12 cultivars of winter rapeseed and 3 levels of water deficit stress. Gypsum blocks were used to monitor soil moisture. Water deficit stress was imposed from stem elongation to physiological maturity. According to the principal component analysis, five principal components were chosen with greater eigenvalue (more than 0.7) that are including 81.34% of the primeval variance of variables. The first component that explained the 48.02% of total variance had the high eigenvalue. The second component could justify about 13.64% of total variance and had positive association with leaf water potential and proline content and had negative relationship with leaf stomatal conductivity. The third, fourth and fifth components expressed around, 10.18, 4.83 and 4.68% of the total variance respectively. The third component had the high eigenvalue for plant dry weight. The fourth component put 1000-seed weight, seed yield, Silique per Plant and root dry weight against plant dry weight, chlorophyll fluorescence and leaf water potential. The fifth component had the high eigenvalue for root dry weight, root volume and 1000-seed weight.

A case of sooty bark disease and Cytospora poplar canker in the Canton of Geneva In summer 2014, a case of sooty bark disease caused by Cryptostroma corticale on an individual field maple (Acer campestre) and two cases of poplar canker due to Cytospora chrysosperma on Populus x euramericana were identified genetically for the first time on the territory of the Canton of Geneva. In both cases, the trees presented signs of very advanced dieback, accompanied by specific symptoms such as bark peeling and sooty plaques for the maple, and loose twisted bark layers and black colouring of the wood in structural branches of the poplars. Sampling was carried out in the symptomatic areas and components of the fungal flora were isolated in pure cultures in order to identify any pathogenic fungi. The molecular analysis of the rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences made it possible to identify precisely all pure isolates obtained. The results showed a majority presence of C. corticale in the maple tree, and of C. chrysosperma in the two poplars. Both these fungi are little known in Switzerland and Europe, and their presence is maybe associated with changes in the climate.

Mitochondrial heat shock proteins of HSP70 family support protein homeostasis in mitochondria under normal and stress conditions. They provide folding and complex assembly of proteins encoded by mitochondrial genome, as well as import of cytosolic proteins to mitochondria, their folding and protection against aggregation. There are reports about organ-specificity of mitochondrial HSP70 synthesis in plants. However, tissue specificity of their functioning remains incompletely characterized. This problem was studied for mitochondrial AtHSP70-10 in Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings using a transgenic line with uidA signal gene under normal conditions, as well as high temperature and water deficit. Under normal conditions, histochemical GUS-staining revealed the expression of AtHSP70-10 in cotyledon and leaf hydathodes, stipules, central cylinder in root differentiation and mature zones, as well as weak staining in root apex and root-shoot junction zone. RT-PCR analysis of wild-type seedlings exposed to 37°C showed rapid upregulation of AtHSP70-10, which reached the highest level within 2 h. In addition, the gradual development of water deficit for 5 days caused an increase in transcription of this gene, which became more pronounced after 3 days and reached a maximum after 5 days of dehydration. Histochemical analysis showed complete preservation of tissue localization of AtHSP70-10 expression under both abiotic factors. The data obtained indicate the specific functioning of mitochondrial chaperone AtHSP70-10 in certain plant cellular structures.
