In the context of the man-made burden on the natural environment, the issues of developing civil engineering students’ environmental awareness are important and particularly relevant to low environmental security countries, which include Ukraine. The authors emphasize the need for broad implementation of the Concept of Sustainable Development in professional training of civil engineering students, determine the level of their environmental awareness, compare the levels of formation of environmental awareness components, and pursue to identify effective ways to environmentalize engineering training. The study involved the students of Donbas National Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture. The authors selected the semi-structured questionnaire method combining rating, Likert and importance scales, alternative and unstructured questions, as well as elements of the Azapagic and the Naturafil techniques. The results did not prove the formation level of the civil engineering students’ environmental awareness to be unsatisfactory. It was also found that the civil engineering students have steady environmental beliefs and are willing to comply with environmental norms in their activities. This fact brought the authors to the conclusion that the current practice of higher technical education in Ukraine takes account of sustainable development. The level of the civil engineering students’ environmental knowledge was also determined as sufficient, while their environmental activity and environmental management skills were seen as low. According to the authors, the use of integrated and practice-oriented approaches to teaching professional subjects and the introduction of environmental topics into general education subjects will contribute to strengthened environmentalization of professional training of civil engineers. The Civil Engineering course teaches different subjects in its academic program, which has in their educational task to offer knowledge to students, their intervention in the environmental space, within the framework of their actions as future civil engineers. The objective of the research is to reflect on the knowledge acquired in the environmental training of students of the civil engineering career. For this purpose, the standardized survey technique was used with structured questions that collected the work of the educational program of the race and was applied to 75 students of the different levels. The result obtained allowed to know to what extent the environmental training of students, has repercussions on the preparation of future civil engineers, in addition to the degree of concern for environmental problems and the predisposition to work in order to reduce the impacts derived from the professional practice of The Civil Engineering, taking into account the implication of the sustainable development in the academic formation. During the investigation it was verified that students are aware of the importance of preservation and respect for nature through the use of clean energies, where they have expressed concern about contamination and depletion of natural resources. The results obtained can have a positive influence on the constructive future of the province, depending on the implementation of an appropriate sustainable development policy.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the scientific and philosophical thought development, which served as a challenge to the renewal of the content of environmental education at the beginning of the XXI century. The analysis of the stages of domestic environmental education development, its content from the point of view of reflection in it of relations between society and nature is carried out. A new stage in the environmental education development in the 21st century is associated with the spread of ideas of sustainable development, which determine the transformation of all spheres of human culture. The article provides examples of tasks that currently exist in the educational literature for one of the primary school subjects, and a variant of their change from the standpoint of environmental education in the interests of sustainable development is proposed. The modern literature on the methodology of teaching the subject “The World Around” in primary school is considered from the point of view of the representation of the content of environmental education in it. The author comes to the conclusion about the insufficiency of the natural science orientation of environmental education for the formation of students’ ideas about the environmental imperative – a key category for understanding the conditions for harmonizing nature, society and the world of things. Based on the analysis performed, a conclusion was made about the relevance of updating the content of school environmental education. It is substantiated that this will contribute to the achievement of its planned result – the formation of a modern ecological culture among students. Technical Education and Vocational Training is taken as an integral part of the national development. This has an important role in the national sustainable development. The knowledge, skills and attitudes are the overall aspects of the lifelong learning. In the context of Nepal, it has provided skills and jobs to many people who are away from the general education having several barriers within them. TEVT covers all the FIETS aspects of sustainability. Aim. The aim of the work is to identify the specific features of teaching the concept of sustainable development in the general education establishments of the Untsukul District of Dagestan. Methodology. Were used the methods of empirical study, test results of students of 5-11 grades of secondary schools, obtained during the expedition to the given region. The questionnaires and tests were developed by the staff of the Institute of Ecology and Sustainable Development of DSU. A total of 1825 anonymous questionnaires were analyzed. Of these, 1011 questionnaires in 5-8th grades; 499 in 9-11th grades as well as 315 teachers. Statistical processing of expedition data is based on well-known techniques using the Statistica software. Results. The analyzed data showed a negative downward trend in the level of both general and ecological knowledge. The findings of our previous studies in some other districts and cities of Dagestan coincide with those obtained in the Untsukulsky district, thus the findings reflect the general situation of the environmental education in Dagestan schools which is the students’ unbalanced knowledge in certain sections of the curriculum. In the analysis of students’ knowledge, it was revealed that the knowledge gained in the course of teaching biology dominates rather than from the course of geography. Our long-term extensive studies show deficiencies in the education system, including environmental training and, as a consequence, the likely complexity of the transition to a modern educational innovation paradigm. Conclusion. The results of empirical and statistical studies have revealed a low level of ecological knowledge of schoolchildren. We propose the introduction of a separate discipline "Ecology and Sustainable Development" to meet the requirements set by the society towards the modern education.

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – “a plan for people, planet and prosperity”, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that service as a roadmap for the national and international policies that should be implemented to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Society, Economy and Environment are recognized as the three pillars for sustainable development. After several attempts to identify and agree upon a global policy for a sustainable future, it is time for implementation. It is time now for global Engineers to get involved in order to bring results in the direction of the implementation of the SDGs. The two European Civil Engineering associations, the European Civil Engineering Education and Training Association (EUCEET) and the Association of European Civil Engineering Faculties (AECEF), joined their forces to investigate the very important issue of “The role of education for Civil Engineers in the implementation of the SDGs”. The topics of the conference are related, but not limited, to the following SDGs: SDG4 - Quality education SDG6 - Clean water and sanitation SDG7 - Affordable and clean energy SDG8 – Decent work and economic growth SDG9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure SDG11 – Sustainable cities and communities SDG13 – Climate action SDG14 – Life below water SDG15 – Life on land
