Making use of the numerical analysis method, the ductility of reinforced concrete column with Z-shaped cross-section was analyzed. Considering stirrup confinements’ influence upon concrete deformation, with using self-made programs, some elements imposing influence on column section ductility were analyzed, such as axial compressive ratio、loading angle、material strength and setting mode of reinforcing bars. The results indicates that the loading angle has great influence on section especially under smaller compressive ratio, while the strength changes of the concrete and reinforced bars has a little influence. Thus, without changing amount of steel, encrypted hooping will effectively improve the ductility of column section.

Based on experimental research on plain concrete columns with high strength concrete core, the formula to predict the bearing capacity of concrete columns with high strength concrete core under axial compression loading was brought forward in previous paper, in order to verify the formula whether right, axial compression test including 3 concrete columns with high strength concrete core and 1 ordinary reinforced concrete column were completed, and the failure characteristic was analyzed additionally. According to experimental results, it can be shown that the failure modes of concrete columns with high strength concrete core are similar to that of ordinary reinforced concrete columns, however, the bearing capacity of concrete columns with high strength concrete core is significant higher compared with that of ordinary reinforced concrete column; the results of the bearing capacity obtained by the formula (2) was in good agreement with the experimental results.

Based on the fact that building material strength degeneration rules in domestic and overseas are different under the high-temperature fire, with the program ANSYS, the temperature stress distribution of cross-section is obtained and the two results are compared according to stress analysis of numerical simulation on the axial compression steel reinforced concrete column (ACSRCC) under high-temperature fire. Based on the conversion principle of different materials stress and the superposition principle, the numerical calculation method on cross-section stress of ACSRCC under high-temperature fire is proposed, and the calculated results agree with simulation data well. The influences of the concrete coverage thickness and other factors on ACSRCC mechanical properties under high-temperature fire are also discussed in the paper.

In this paper, a comparative investigation into the behavior of concrete-filled steel tube column and reinforced concrete column with the same quantity of material and cross-section sizes under axial load have been undertaken using the finite element method. Both is analyzed to compare the axial compression performance, including bearing capacity, ductility and their mechanism. The results of the analyses clearly exhibit that bearing capacity of concrete-filled steel tube column is higher about 25% than that of reinforced concrete column. Under the same conditions, ductility of concrete-filled steel tube column is better than reinforced concrete column, its application is recommended in construction practice.

Through the axial compression experiment of 9 GFRP tubes reinforced concrete columns, this paper analyzes the failure mode and loading-strain curves under different pipe diameter, and compares bearing capacity between the experimental data with FRP reinforced concrete and the calculated value without GFRP tubes reinforced concrete. he results show that the bearing capacity and ductility of GFRP tubes reinforced concrete column have improved, because of the restriction effect of FRP tubes. The confining ability of FRP tubes on concrete reduced for a certain thickness GFRP tubes constraint concrete short column, while the pipe diameter is increasing.

The article presents the results of a numerical experiment consisting in a test of an eccentrically compressed reinforced concrete column and comparison of the results obtained with the results of experimental studies. With the development of numerical methods and software packages, methods (techniques) of modeling structural elements using more detailed calculation models with solid finite elements that allow direct consideration of the joint behavior of concrete and reinforcing bars become relevant. The use of such methods requires verification of individual load-bearing structural elements, such as columns, beams, slabs. The article refers to a nonlinear concrete model – Continuous Surface Cap Model (CSCM). This model is implemented in the LS-DYNA software package and enables to consider the joint behavior of reinforcing bars and concrete, using bar (for reinforcing bars) and solid (for concrete) finite elements. An eccentrically compressed reinforced concrete column of square section with dimensions of 150х150х1150 (h) mm is chosen as an object of modeling. The studies have shown that the ultimate breaking load on the column based on the results of numerical modeling is consistent with the experimental values (discrepancy does not exceed 3.4%). The pattern of development of cracks and fractures, obtained from the results of modeling in the LS-DYNA software package corresponds to the pattern of fractures obtained as a result of experimental studies. According to comparison of the results obtained, it can be argued that a numerical test showed good agreement with the results obtained during full-scale experiments.

In the case of small increase of cross-section, concrete column strengthened by circular steel tube can increase the bearing capacity greatly as well as ductility. This has resulted in engineering welcome. This paper studied the common work performance of reinforced concrete column strengthened by circular steel tube in three different conditions test of axial compression. The results show that outsourcing steel and core column can be achieved interaction. By strengthening, it can improve the load capacity of the concrete column as well as ductility. With the increase in initial load, although it has little effect on the bearing capacity of reinforced columns, it can affect the ductility to some extent. This paper can provide experimental basis for engineering applications.
