Potassium-sodium-rubidium niobate single crystals are grown using an original pulling down method, to improve their composition change during a crystal growth, by means of co-doping of small ionic size sodium and large ionic size rubidium into potassium niobate. Even by the co-doping, single crystals can be grown with orthorhombic single-phase at room temperature, as well as pure potassium niobate. Their electric properties, such as the dielectric constant and the impedance, are changed depending on the doping ions.

The polycrystal samples of Gd1-xCaxCoO3-δ with different content of Ca were synthesized by three different techniques: solution method, solid state reaction and a sol-gel method. A study of magnetic and electric properties have been made. It is shown that the magnetic properties of this compound are in a high degree close to the same of the parent GdCoO3 with Co3+ ions being in a low spin state below the room temperature. The conductivity investigation revealed its increase by alkaline-earth substitution typical in rare-earth cobaltites.

AbstractMontmorillonite(Mont) has been proved to be a kind of very promising solid electrolyte in recent years because of its good electric properties. It can be composed by polymer to prepare a mont-polymer complex which has high ionic conductivity and excellent plasticity. The film made of mont-polymer complex with room temperature ionic conduction has been used in solid state battery as solid electrolyte. It may be a new type of function material with futher application.

Recently we have been investigating a class of nickel-base superalloys which possess substantial room temperature ductility. This improvement in ductility is directly related to improvements in grain boundary strength due to increased boundary cohesion through control of detrimental impurities and improved boundary shear strength by controlled grain boundary micros true tures. For these investigations an experimental nickel-base superalloy was doped with different levels of sulphur impurity. The micros tructure after a heat treatment of 1360°C for 2 hr, 1200°C for 16 hr consists of coherent precipitates of γ’ Ni3(Al,X) in a nickel solid solution matrix.
