We report a rare case of negative pressure pulmonary oedema (NPPE), a life-threatening complication of tracheal intubation. A 41-year-old obese man was admitted to a previous hospital for neck surgery. After extubation, he developed respiratory distress followed by haemoptysis and desaturation. The patient was reintubated and brought to our hospital where we introduced venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to prevent cardiac arrest, which is an unusual clinical course for NPPE. He returned to his routine without any sequelae. This is the first case report of NPPE successfully resolved with venovenous ECMO in the hybrid emergency room (hybrid ER), which is a resuscitation room equipped with interventional radiology features and a sliding CT scanner. Since the hybrid ER serves as a single move for patients where all necessary procedures are performed, it has the potential to lower the incidence of cannulation complications, beyond the delay in ECMO initiation.

HighlightsA stubble chopping and scattering device based on 2BMFJ-12 no-tillage precision planter was modelled and developed. The optimal working parameters were obtained through theoretical analysis, flow field simulation, field test, and optimization combination test,The device improves the straw chopping and scattering ability of no-tillage planter.Technical support is provided for the development of conservation tillage equipment.Abstract.Aiming at the problems of poor stubble chopping quality of 2BMFJ-12 no-tillage precision planter, leading to slow stubble degradation rate, inconsistent seedlings emergence, and partial surface exposure, affecting tillage and crop yield at seedling stage, the stubble chopping and dispersal device was designed. The theoretical analysis of the corn stubble picking and chopping processes was carried out. The flow field characteristics in the volute were simulated by SolidWorks Flow Simulation. The main parameters and value range affecting the working performance of the device were determined. The orthogonal experiment method of three factors and three levels was used to carry out the field experiment with the angle of broken cutter, the rotation speed of cutter shaft and the inclination angle of negative pressure blade as the experiment factors, and the qualified broken rate, the uneven coverage, the scattering distance and the power consumption as the evaluation indexes. The variance analysis and optimization of the experiment results were carried out by Design-Expert 6.0.10. The optimized combination of parameters is that when the inclination angle of the chopping knife is -10.5°, the rotational speed of the knife shaft is 1120 r·min-1, and the inclination angle of the negative pressure blade is -15°, the qualified rate of chopping is greater than 93.01%, the coverage unevenness is less than 17.11%, the scattering distance is greater than 6.80 m, and the power consumption is less than 6.79 kW. The research results provide technical support for 2BMFJ no-tillage precision planter to improve stubble chopping and covering quality. Keywords: Corn stubble, No-tillage sowing, Scattering distance, Stubble broken, Uniform coverage.

One-way surge tank is an important measure of water hammer protection in long water supply engineering. It can control the negative pressure efficiently and prevent pipeline from column separation. Setting one-way surge tank in proper place along pipeline is relative to the safety of long water supply engineering. Principle of Setting one-way surge tank is made through theoretical analysis detailedly. It is obviously that result of theoretical analysis is conservative because attenuation of water hammer is ignored, but theoretical analysis provide an proper approach for setting one-way surge tank. Based on result of theoretical analysis, optimization setting is obtained through numerical simulation.

In order to improve mixing quality of asphalt mixture, a method of theoretical analysis and test was used to analyze the effects of negative pressure of drying drum, geometric parameters of mixer and aggregate variation ratio in hot aggregate bins on the segregation of asphalt mixture. Reasonable measures of controlling segregation in the mixing process were given out. Research results indicate that stable negative pressure of drying drum reduce the temperature segregation of asphalt mixture by controlling temperature undulation of hot aggregate and reasonable arrangement of mixing blades cut down material segregation of asphalt mixture with adequate mixing. That isn’t all, delivery proportion of the aggregate in hot aggregate bins and mesh size of vibrating sieve, properly selected according to the gradation of cold aggregate, improve quality and efficiency of asphalt mixture with lower aggregate variation in hot aggregate bins.

The splitting effect that is observed in microdiffraction pat-terns of small metallic particles in the size range 50-500 Å can be understood using the dynamical theory of electron diffraction for the case of a crystal containing a finite wedge. For the experimental data we refer to part I of this work in these proceedings.

Patients who have undergone several sessions of chemotherapy for cancer will sometimes develop anticipatory nausea and vomiting (ANV), these unpleasant side effects occurring as the patients return to the clinic for a further session of treatment. Pavlov's analysis of learning allows that previously neutral cues, such as those that characterize a given place or context, can become associated with events that occur in that context. ANV could thus constitute an example of a conditioned response elicited by the contextual cues of the clinic. In order to investigate this proposal we have begun an experimental analysis of a parallel case in which laboratory rats are given a nausea-inducing treatment in a novel context. We have developed a robust procedure for assessing the acquisition of context aversion in rats given such training, a procedure that shows promise as a possible animal model of ANV. Theoretical analysis of the conditioning processes involved in the formation of context aversions in animals suggests possible behavioral strategies that might be used in the alleviation of ANV, and we report a preliminary experimental test of one of these.
