1. A study was conducted amongst 1247 treated hypertensive patients to determine the predictive power of untreated baseline and achieved treated blood pressures in the development of the complications of hypertension. In addition the relative importance of systolic and diastolic pressures was calculated. 2. Statistical analysis was done by calculating univariate differences in blood pressure between cases with and without complications. The higher the univariate distance, the greater the predictive power. 3. Blood pressures achieved during treatment were more important than baseline pressures for predicting stroke in both men and women, confirming the benefits of antihypertensive therapy in preventing strokes. 4. There was some evidence of prevention of myocardial infarction in men and of angina in women as a result of therapy. 5. There was no evidence to suggest that any one group of drugs, including β-adrenoreceptor-blocking drugs and thiazides, conferred any extra benefit in preventing coronary heart disease. 6. The systolic blood pressures achieved during treatment predicted stroke better than diastolic pressure, but no consistent trends were found for coronary heart disease.

Purpose. To examine the effect of a pharmaceutical care program on the coronary heart disease risk in elderly diabetic and hypertensive patients. Methods. A total of 200 elderly (> 60 years) diabetic and/or hypertensive patients were recruited into a randomized, controlled, prospective clinical trial with a 36-month follow-up, developed in a public primary health care unit in a municipality in the Brazilian State of Sao Paulo. A range of clinical measurements were evaluated at the baseline and up to 36 months afterwards. The intervention group patients received pharmaceutical care from a clinical pharmacist, whereas the control group patients received their usual care from the medical and nursing staff. The Framingham scoring method was used to estimate changes in the 10-year coronary heart disease risk scores of all the patients. Results. A total of 194 patients completed the study. Introduction: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common type of heart disease that causes death. It occurs as a result of hardening of the coronary arteries which supply oxigen-rich blood to the entire heart muscle so that the heart can contract properly. However, many patients neglect the symptoms. Moreover, the risk factor and the comorbides disease worsen the condition. This research aims to study the profile of coronary heart disease patients in the inpatient rooms at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya in 2017.Methods: This study was a cross-sectional and retrospective study by assessing patients’ medical record and analyzed descriptively.Results: From total 587, 263 patiens met inclusion criteria, aged between 51-60 years (42.6%) with domination of male (82,13%). %). Risk Factors are into one of the Comorbidities of CHD Patient. There are Risk Factor can be aggravate of CHD Patients. Most of subjects had risk factor hipertension (50,79%), and hypertension with DM (38,7%). Hypertension based on systolic pressure and diastolic pressure obtained that systolic pressure <120 mmhg was 39.6% and diastolic pressure <80 was 37.4%.Conclusion: Most of CHD patients in this study were in age group 51 – 60 years old, male, had risk factor hypertension and DM.
