In the previous paper, Sutton et al. (1985) examined the effect of concentrate type on the performance of lactating dairy cows and reported significant effects with respect to silage intake and milk protein concentration. In this experiment, conducted in parallel with that reported by Sutton et al. (1988), the effect of concentrate type on nutrient digestion in the rumen and protein supply to the tissues of lactating cows was examined, although the comparison was restricted to examination of the high protein diets only.

A modern dairy farm is a complex biotechnical “man-machine-animal” system, where purposeful human activity concentrates mainly on the control of the “machine” and “animal” subsystems, thus making the whole system ergatic. Increasing the interaction effi ciency of machine subsystems with biological objects (animals) requires an in-depth study of the properties and characteristics of the latter, their behavior, adaptive and refl ex mechanisms that ensure the mutual adaptation of machine and biological subsystems. The paper considers general functionality of the “animal” subsystem, which includes lists of monitored parameters (functions) in pre-weaning, pre-lactation and lactation periods. In a similar way, functionals of the subsystems of the general musculoskeletal development of the animal’s body, respiratory and digestive organs, comfort of the habitat, development and control of the reproductive organs of lactating cows were obtained accompanied with a list of controlled functions and parameters. To carry out a set of research activities in this fi eld, FSAC VIM is planning to carry out a complex project that will increase the levels of automation, digitalization and intellectualization of animal husbandry, provide for comfortable environment, optimal rediced-impact service modes for animals and their extended productive longevity, increased quality of milk and autonomous functioning of individual local biotechnical subsystems.

The data on assessment the preservative action of new enzymatic multisystem in combination with bacterial silage additive Silzak at alfalfa ensiling are presented in this study. It is known that alfalfa is a nonensiling legume grass because of excess moisture, sugar deficit and high content of crude protein. The experiments on alfalfa ensiling were conducted with application the enzymatic multisystem FM-1 under laboratory and research-and-production conditions. The multisystem was developed by the specialists of science-and-technical centre «Lecbiotech» in cooperation with scientists of Williams Fodder Research Institute. The optimal dose of FM-1 application and its preservative effectiveness in comparison with chemical conservant were determined in technological experiments. Obtained silage was evaluated on basic parameters: nutrients and organic acids content, ammonia, active acidity. The influence of the tested biological additive on the nutrients digestibility and energy value of alfalfa silage was estimated in experiments with hog lambs. Total results have shown the efficiency of the new development. Lucerne silage, prepared with application of mixture FM-1 and Silzak, was characterized by the better parameters of nutrients digestibility and energy value than at using a chemical conservant AIV 3 plus. The optimal dose of enzymatic multisystem application, as 90 gram per ton of fresh plant mass, was determined in the series of experiments.

For ruminants, especially high-yielding animals in addition to the complete supply of animals with protein, its digestibility in the rumen is important. With low protein digestibility in the rumen, the released ammonia will be more effectively used by the rumen microflora, and the undigestible protein in the subsequent sections of the digestive tract can serve as a source of amino acids for the body. The use of concentrate mixtures with the inclusion of local, affordable and cheaper grain feeds, in particular a high-energy and protein ingredient- rapeseed presscake makes it possible to increase the milk productivity of cows throughout lactation. These presscakes are well balanced in their amino acid composition and belong to feeds whose protein has a low degree of digestibility in the rumen. The purpose of the researches was to study the digestibility of nutrients and milk productivity of cows when using the concentrate mixture with the inclusion of rapeseed presscake. In the scientific and economic experiment has been carried out on lactating cows, where the cows of the experimental group in the concentrate mixture of peas has been replaced with rapeseed presscake the digestibility of nutrients in the ration, energy metabolism and milk productivity have been studied. Studies have shown that almost all the nutrients were significantly better digested by the animals of the experimental group. Energy in milk was more allocated by cows of the experimental group by 6,29 MJ. From cows of the experimental group for 100 and 305 days of lactation has been obtained more milk by 6,27 and 7,06 %, respectively, than from control herdmates. The biochemical parameters of blood were within the limits of the physiological norm in animals of both groups. Thus, the replacement of peas with rapeseed presscake in the concentrate mixture did not have a negative influence on the metabolic processes and helped to increase the milk productivity of cows.
