The community’s need for transportation from year to year has increased. The high level of automotive industry market absorption is realized by the industries that competition is inevitable. Industries compete with each other to increase their competitive advantage. One aspect from competitive advantage is quality control. This quality control is applied not only to one aspect of management but also to all aspects of the company to create total quality management. To pursue the total quality management, there are quality control tools that are integrated with six sigma approach method that called DMAIC or Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control. Six Sigma itself means a disability of only 3.4 defects per million opportunities. This research was conducted to know the application of quality control with six sigma method at PT Tosama Abadi. Factors causing disability are machine, method, material, human, and environment. By using seven quality control tools integrated with six sigma, it can be seen that the sigma value before the application of six sigma method in the production process at PT Tosama Abadi is 4.12σ with 4340 error from one million opportunity whereas after application, the sigma value is increase to 4.29σ with 2750 DPMO. It shows that defect level is more manageable.

Industrial businesses in Indonesia realize that consumer desires have changed over time. Consumers desire that becomes the main priority is quality. PT. Bitrate Industries, as a company that produces yarn in Semarang, always strives to improve product quality to the desires of consumers. The company faces quality control problems: the production process of 20 OE yarn, producing the highest defective products. The Six Sigma approach analyzes the causes of defects, identifies sources of variation, proposes improvements with 5W + 1H, and implements a quality control plan. Most defects occur in the production process in the autocross engine, which is caused by engine wear. Implementation of the kaizen approach can be given proposals in the form of improvements in maintenance, according to the existing scheduling and periodic replacement of parts. This study concludes that the proportion of defects is still in the controlled stage, but the quality control of the product is still needed. A quality improvement project with a Six Sigma approach can benefit any company that needs to find the most efficient way to improve product quality.

Abstract. The industrial competition requires companies to produce high-quality products, but the phenomenon is that companies still produce products that do not meet specifications and are returned by customers. This is the basis for conducting research aimed at analyzing the implementation of quality control, knowing the main defects of the product, and making improvements to reduce or eliminate problems during the production process using the Six Sigma approach with steps: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. The research sample is the result of the final product inspection in April - September 2019. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Quality control has been carried out but not maximally, with the root causes of the main defects being method, material, and machine. CTO in this research are: foreign body contamination, leak packaging, product temperature exceeds the standard, over drip, and thick fat. After improving, there was an increase in sigma level from 3.48 (performance baseline) to 3.83. Control is carried out to maintain consistency of corrective actions by regular briefings to operators, increasing GMP training, 5S, and product knowledge, standardizing SOP changes, adding necessary tools, and controlling preventive maintenance implementation. Keywords: Quality control, six sigma, wagyu, defect product, DMAIC

PT. Tainan Enterprises Indonesia branch of Cianjur produce various kinds of garment products. One of the most widely product  is trousers. The product  are still many defects. This is showed from the number of defective products during  February 2015 until mid- March 2015 which reached 509 products unit of 10.138 trousers produced. Therefore, appropriate quality control is required to optimize the quality of trousers products. This research method uses Six Sigma approach with DMAIC cycle (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improvement, Control). Based on the results of the research is known the most dominant type of defect is oblique belt loop and skid jump defects. Factors causing of oblique belt loop defects are sourced from human factors (operator does not follow signs and operators are fatigue), engine factor (old machine age and engine setting less than perfect), material factor (needle material less reliable and materials need to be heating which is high), and the method factor (information on working methods is still lacking). While the factors causing of skid jump defects are sourced from human factors (operator is less careful in choosing to sewing needles and operators experience fatigue), machine factor (old machine age and no regular machine maintenance), material factor (needle less reliable sewing), and method factors (production supervision and quality control are still weak). Quality Increasing could be can increase the value of Six sigma from 3.82 to 4.27.
