This study aims to determine the level of critical thinking skills and science motivation of students in learning science. The population in this study all students of class VIII SMP N 3 Pemalang were 10 classes with 317 students. The research sample was randomly selected with a sample of one class of 31 students. The study was conducted on January 4, 2020, data collection techniques in the form of tests and questionnaires. The test is used to determine students' critical thinking skills in learning science in simple plane materials. While the questionnaire is used to determine the level of science motivation of students in learning Natural Sciences. Descriptive quantitative data analysis and percentage. The results showed the level of critical thinking skills of Pemalang N 3 Middle School students was 35.48% from the high and medium category. While the level of science motivation of Pemalang N 3 Middle School students was 35.50% from the high and medium category. This shows that the ability to think critically and the level of science motivation of students is still quite low. So we need a learning model that can improve students' motivation and critical thinking skills.

The purpose of this study is to improve the critical thinking skills of Class VII Middle Scool students in social arithmetic material by applying problem posing learning. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Kemmis and Mc Taggart models with stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments used in this study were validation sheets, observation sheets, and final cycle test sheets. The results showed that the application of problem posing learning with the following steps: the stage of apperception and motivation, the stage of conceptualization, the development and discussion stages, and the stage of correcting answers can improve the critical thinking skills of Class VII Middle School students in social arithmetic material. The average percentage of the test results of students' critical thinking skills in the first cycle was 55.2 percent and increased by 20.6 percent in the second cycle to 75.8 percent, so that this study could be said to be successful. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan langkah-langkah pembelajaran problem posing yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMP Kelas VII pada materi aritmetika sosial. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart dengan tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi, lembar observasi, dan lembar tes akhir siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran problem posing dengan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut : tahap apersepsi dan motivasi, tahap penyampaian konsep, tahap pengembangan dan diskusi, serta tahap mengoreksi jawaban dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMP Kelas VII pada materi aritmetika sosial. Persentase rata-rata hasil tes kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa siklus I sebesar 55,2 persen dan meningkat 20,6 persen pada siklus II menjadi 75,8 persen, sehingga penelitian ini dapat dikatakan berhasil.

This study tried to describe the energy in daily life learning to train students' critical thinking skills. Improving critical thinking through learning in school is an effort in enlightening the quality of national education and Indonesian students' readiness to face the globalisation era which is full of challenge and sense of climate’ life that are very competitive. It was important to investigate the learning of energy in living systems in order to train the critical thinking skills because nowadays energy becomes a global issue which relates to the future life. This study utilised a qualitative method. The data were collected by the teacher’s documentation and depth interview. The data were then analysed, described, and interpreted comprehensively. Data analysis result gotten the teacher did not instruct and concentrate yet to the critical thinking. The root problem was the teacher did not show that learning guideline and comprehension that can lead to student critical thinking.

<p><em>The legislation System of national education No. 20 Year 2003 about education standards consist of standard content, processes, the competence of graduates, educational personnel, infrastructure, management, financing and assessment of education.</em></p><p><em>Standards of competence and standard of graduates, Graduates in Vocational secondary schools are expected to have the ability to build Standard and competence of graduates of the creative, and innovatively in decision making. The reality of the situation of vocational high school graduates do not meet the standard of competence of Graduates, because the existence of limited practical tools so that the experiment also rarely do. </em></p><p><em>The purpose of the study is to describe the practicality, and the effectiveness of the implementation of the model of learning ability-oriented design and conduct experiments to practice critical thinking skills of students of SMK.</em></p><p><em>As for the approach of this study is a descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of the implementation of the developed learning the real device, it can be concluded that the ability of the design-oriented learning and experimentation to train creative and critical thinking skills a valid, practical, effective, and can enhance critical thinking skills and creative as well as achieving perfection results of student learning. The ability analyzed in this study is the ability to think critically mathematically. This ability is considered very important as written is the goal of mathematics learning from the Ministry of National Education which states that the development of critical thinking skills is the focus of learning and becomes one of the graduation standards of high school students. It is desirable, high school graduates, have the ability to think logically, analytically, systematically, critically, and creatively, and have the ability to work together. This study aims to determine the improvement of mathematical critical mathematical thinking skills of students in one of the Vocational Schools in Bandung between those who obtain problem-based learning with those who obtain conventional learning. The sample in this study was one Vocational School in Bandung, which was selected by 2 classes, namely the first class obtained problem-based learning and the second class received conventional learning. The method in this study is a quasi experiment. The instrument in this study was a test instrument in the form of a description and consisted of 6 questions. The results of this study are improved mathematical critical thinking skills of students who get problem-based learning better than students who get conventional learning
