Male form Strong Vocational Interest Blank protocols were obtained from 4 female samples: 40 law students, 44 mathematicians, 51 medical students, and 49 graduate students in psychology Each sample scored higher ( p < .01) than the complement (other three samples pooled) on the appropriate occupational scale. Classificatory indices were defined for each sample, adding scores on four scales with positive differences and subtracting four with negative; no scale was used twice. Analyses of variance were significant ( p < .01) for each index. The accuracy of each index in correctly assigning individuals to the designated occupation was also examined. Obtained vs chance hit rates were 78% vs 78% (law), 85% vs 76% (mathematics), 78% vs 72% (medicine), and 75% vs 73% (psychology).

The monograph examines the fundamental problems of justice from the point of view of the need to ensure organizational and legal means of justice in judicial activity. The problems of philosophical, legal and other approaches to understanding justice and the mechanism of justice are studied; the problems of justice in the system of current legislation, including in the conditions of uncertainty of legal norms, within the framework of judicial discretion, in judicial law - making and rule — making; the problems of evidence in court proceedings; the problems of fair justice in extreme conditions of the coronavirus pandemic; as a vector of the future-the problems of justice carried out by artificial intelligence; the problem of justice of the death sentence. Proposals aimed at improving the mechanism of fair justice are being made. For employees of legislative, judicial and law enforcement agencies, active judges and those who want to become them, scientists, teachers, graduate students and law students, as well as for practicing lawyers.

ABSTRACT Objective: Exposure to science education during college may affect a student's profile, and research experience may be associated with better professional performance. We hypothesized that the impact of research experience obtained during graduate study differs among professional curricula and among graduate courses. Methods: A validated multiple-choice questionnaire concerning scientific concepts was given to students in the first and fourth years of medical and law school at a public Brazilian educational institution. Results: Medical students participated more frequently in introductory scientific programs than law students, and this trend increased from the first to the fourth years of study. In both curricula, fourth-year students displayed a higher percentage of correct answers than first-year students. A higher proportion of fourth-year students correctly defined the concepts of scientific hypothesis and scientific theory. In the areas of interpretation and writing of scientific papers, fourth-year students, in both curricula, felt more confident than first-year students. Although medical students felt less confident in planning and conducting research projects than law students, they were more involved in research activities. Conclusion: Medical graduation seems to favor the development of critical scientific maturity than law graduation. Specific policy in medical schools is a reasonable explanation for medical students’ participation in more scientific activities.

The paper is devoted to the problems of implementation and protection of children's rights to life and to health which are highly relevant in the world community, including the Russian Federation. The authors investigate the norms of all the branches of law, within the legal system of the Russian Federation, where measures of protection of this right and responsibility for its violation are established. In addition, the current Russian legislation on health protection, compulsory health insurance, circulation of medicines, transplantation of organs, tissues, and other aspectsare analyzed thoroughly and comprehensively. The international and foreign experience in rights regulation and the opinions of Russian and foreign scientists on various contentious issues relating to understanding of the juvenile's right to survival and healthcare are thoroughly revealed in the paper. Researchers conclude about the apparent lack and low efficiency of legal tools ensuring the realization and protection of this right in the national legislation of the Russian Federation. The study is intended for scholars, professors, graduate students and law students as well as for specialists, whose activities are directly related to the protection of the rights and interests of juveniles.

To write a sociological festschrift for a scholar necessarily means looking at a chain of influence instead of one person. In this essay, I honor William Shaffir, Emeritus Professor of Sociol­ogy at McMaster University, who taught me as I worked towards the MA. I examine what I learned from him by starting with my undergraduate experiences at McGill University, where Billy (I never heard anyone call him William) received his PhD. We shared influences there, including those who had studied with Howard S. Becker at Northwestern University. I then turn to my time at McMaster, and how Billy strengthened my knowledge of symbolic interactionism and qualitative methods, as well as taught me important lessons about writing. He also reduced graduate students’ anxieties, including mine, through two words: “No problem.” My experiences with Billy provided a model of mentoring that challenged the usual hierarchy between graduate students and professors. Those lessons were reinforced as I pursued a PhD at the University of Minnesota and spent two quarters at Northwestern University as a visiting student. These connecting influences helped me write and teach sociology in a largely quantitative department at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where I lacked the kind of support I had received as an undergraduate and graduate student. I taught there over 37 years, practicing the kind of sociology and mentoring that Billy generously modeled so many years ago.

The laboratory genetic counselor is commonly called upon to serve as an educational resource within the genetic testing laboratory. This chapter outlines this unique genetic counseling role. Laboratory genetic counselors provide education about genetic testing and genetic concepts within the laboratory to existing laboratory staff, new laboratory genetic counselor colleagues, formal educational program participants (genetic counselor interns, graduate students, medical students and residents, and laboratory fellows), and laboratory colleagues. They also use their skills and knowledge to educate client laboratories and clinicians. They may also participate in public and community forums.
