A proof-of-concept detector prototype capable of collecting and storing radiometric data in the jet boring system (JBS) during pilot hole drilling at the Cigar Lake uranium mine is presented. Cigar Lake is the world’s second highest known grade uranium mine and is located in northern Saskatchewan, Canada. Variant design is used to design, develop, test, and implement the detector’s firmware, software, and hardware. The battery-powered detector is attached inside a JBS drill rod to collect radiometric data through the drilling cycle. A readout box is used to initiate the detector, recharge the battery, and download radiometric data after the pilot hole drilling cycle is complete. Functional testing results are presented, and comparative test results between the JBS gamma probe and the AlphaNUCLEAR Hi-Flux probe are evaluated. Field data collected from a pilot hole are plotted against the pilot hole’s driving layout and jetting recipe to show the accuracy of the readings collected.

When studying human kinematics, the intention is usually to isolate and model the movements of bony segments. With motion capture based on skin mounted marker systems, there is confounding of the extent to which the surface represents the movements of the underlying bony structures1 . Soft tissue artifact (STA) is an important confounder, caused by the relative movement between the skin mounted markers and the underlying bones. STA is a commonly encountered problem in biomechanics2 . Furthermore, for applications such as motion analysis of composite joints in the spine, wrist and ankle, the inability to associate surface markers closely with underlying bony segments has inhibited the construction of meaningful mechanical models3. The research question underpinning this program of work is whether it may be possible to use data from cross sectional imaging modalities in combination with surface mounted marker sets, to solve for the error associated with surface markers and so produce refined functional models of activities in real world settings.

Introduction Patient reported outcome measures are central to National Health Service quality of care assessments. This study investigated the benefit of elective hand surgery by the simultaneous analysis of pain, function and appearance, using a three-dimensional (3D) graphical model for evaluating and presenting outcome. Methods A total of 188 patients scheduled for surgery completed pre- and postoperative questionnaires grading the severity of their pain, dysfunction and deformity of their hand(s). Scores were plotted on a 3D graph to demonstrate the degree of ‘normalisation’ following surgery. Results Surgical groups included: nerve compression (n=53), Dupuytren’s disease (n=51), trigger finger (n=20), ganglion (n=17) or other lump (n=21), trapeziometacarpal joint osteoarthritis (n=10), rheumatoid disease (n=5) and other pathology (n=13). A significant improvement towards normality was seen after surgery in each group except for patients with rheumatoid disease. Conclusions This study provides a simple, visual representation of hand surgery outcome by plotting patient scores for pain, function and appearance simultaneously on a 3D graph.

This paper demonstrates how PHP web service technology can be used in mobile application. Web service testing can be done manually by creating php client file that call the SOAP web service. Testing can also be done using SoapUI, an open source software that can be used to do functional testing on web service. This paper is proof of concept that PHP Web Service can be used as data provider for application that need dynamic data. This paper proposed PHP Client Layer as an additional layer to simplify the web service calling from mobile application. Index Terms - web service, php, json, SOAP, SoapUI
