We explored associations between the common protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii and brain cancers in human populations. We predicted that T. gondii could increase the risk of brain cancer because it is a long-lived parasite that encysts in the brain, where it provokes inflammation and inhibits apoptosis. We used a medical geography approach based on the national incidence of brain cancers and seroprevalence of T. gondii . We corrected reports of incidence for national gross domestic product because wealth probably increases the ability to detect cancer. We also included gender, cell phone use and latitude as variables in our initial models. Prevalence of T. gondii explained 19 per cent of the residual variance in brain cancer incidence after controlling for the positive effects of gross domestic product and latitude among nations. Infection with T. gondii was associated with a 1.8-fold increase in the risk of brain cancers across the range of T. gondii prevalence in our dataset (4–67%). These results, though correlational, suggest that T. gondii should be investigated further as a possible oncogenic pathogen of humans.

This article analyze some of the important macroeconomic indicators in Colombia, such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Representative Market Rate (TRM), the Oil Price (BRENT and WIT) and COLCAP. The objective is to study Colombia's economic. The analysis were obtained with artificial neural networks on Colombian indicators data for the period 2001 to 2018 of the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) and Bloomberg. Concluding, for Colombia, the last two cases are highly favorable for the economy, because they will generate a greater influx of dollars, allowing positive effects on the domestic product and the consumer price index.

Toxoplasma gondii is a widely prevalent protozoan parasite in human populations. This parasite is thought to be primarily transmitted through undercooked meat and contamination by cat feces. Here, we demonstrate that Toxoplasma gondii cysts can be found within human semen, thus suggesting a potential for sexual transmission. We visualized Toxoplasma gondii cysts in ejaculates of immune-competent and latently infected human volunteers. We confirmed the encystment by probing transcription of a bradyzoite-specific gene in these structures. These observations extend previous observations of the parasite in semen of several non-human host species, including rats, dogs, and sheep. Toxoplasma gondii infection is a clinically significant infection, in view of its high prevalence, its purported role in neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, as well as in the more serious form of congenital toxoplasmosis. Our demonstration of intact Toxoplasma gondii cysts in the ejaculate supports the possibility of sexual transmission of the parasite and provides an impetus for further investigations.

This research aims to identify the negative and positive effects of conflicts and clarify the effects that conflicts have had on economic and social development, as the most important hypothesis of the research is to verify the negative and positive effects of conflicts on the gross domestic product of the Middle East countries that witnessed the conflicts. And verify the extent of the role that individuals, groups, institutions, or the state play in the development process in all its aspects. The research followed the analytical and standard approach to verify the proof or denial of the assumptions. Then the research came out with results, the most important of which are the results of the statistically significant factor, "Investment as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product", a negative impact on the GDP at constant prices of the US dollar in (2015), and then the most important recommendations were to increase investments among the most important priorities in Eastern countries. In order to increase economic growth rates and create new job opportunities, and to achieve this, it is necessary to transfer spending from unproductive uses to investment. Key words: conflicts, impacts, Middle East region, economic growth .

AbstractIn this paper I report the results of a survey of the astronomical outputs of all 63 IAU member countries as well as several non-member countries, based on an analysis of the affiliations of the authors given for nearly 900 thousand astronomical papers appearing in ADS between the years 1976 and 2005. The results show a roughly three-fold increase in the number of published papers per year over this 30-year interval. This increase is seen both in developed and also in most developing countries. The number of publications per IAU member correlates strongly with gross domestic product. It is over 2 papers per IAU member per year in the countries with the strongest economies but less than 0.5 in the countries with low GDP per capita. Since 2001 there has been a dramatic increase in the number of multi-author multinational papers published. This increase is especially noticeable for authors in developing countries, indicating that astronomers in these countries are increasingly participating in international collaborations for their research activities.

The current research examined the macroeconomic determinants of Peruvian gold exports in the period 2003-2019 as well as their relative importance. Regressors employed were inflation, exchange rate, international rate, interest rate and Swiss gross domestic product. Ordinary Least Square along with decomposition and standardized coefficients were employed. The research found positive effects of inflation and international gold price on the dependent variable; while, Swiss gross domestic product was found to have a negative effect to Peruvian gold export. By the usage of  decomposition and standardized coefficients it was found that international gold price is the most relevant regressor when explaining Peruvian gold export values.

In this paper, export opportunities of textile products from Turkey to Lithuania are analyzed. The main goal of this article is to present an analysis of the opportunities to import textile products from Turkey to Lithuania. The empirical research basing on the statistical database analysis was used. The analysis of Turkey’s markets was showed that the economy is strongly dependent on exports of various products from Turkey and it is about one forth of Turkey’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product). The bulk of exports from Turkey is t o countries in the European Union. Turkey is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and exporters of textiles. The analysis of Lithuanian markets was indicated that Lithuania has a feasible market for imports due to its fast growing GDP, increasing labor wages and modernization of agriculture industry. Furthermore, advantageous and adequate policies of Lithuania’s foreign trade should encourage the development of imports to this country. The demand for textile products in Lithuania is growing rapidly and it is one of the most important sectors in fostering its economy

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of Foreign Direct Investment, Gross Domestic Product, Energy Consumption, Electric Consumption, and Meat Consumption on CO2 emissions of 41 countries in the world using panel data from 1999 to 2013. After analyzing 41 countries in the world data, furthermore 17 countries in Asia was analyzed with the same period. This study utilized quantitative approach with Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression method. The results of 41 countries in the world data indicates that Foreign Direct Investment, Gross Domestic Product, Energy Consumption, and Meat Consumption significantlyaffect Environmental Qualities which measured by CO2 emissions. Whilst the results of 17 countries in Asia data implies that Foreign Direct Investment, Energy Consumption, and Electric Consumption significantlyaffect Environmental Qualities. However, Gross Domestic Product and Meat Consumption does not affect Environmental Qualities.
