Cities and the neighbourhoods within are dynamic and change continuously. Vital neighbourhoods can cope with changing circumstances like outdated use, changing household compositions, consumer preferences and fashions, political turnovers, global trends and economic cycles. Sustainable areas are vital and flexible to changes. Sustainable urban renewal results in sustainable areas. However, what is sustainable urban renewal, and why is quite a lot of renewal policy, as history shows, not very sustainable? European urban renewal policy can be divided into three separate periods, in which different ideas prevailed. This article shows these three periods on four points of view, the contents, the process, the area and a time-focus, and elaborates these on one particular country, the Netherlands.

There is currently a stress on the need to bring up the individuals able to look at global trends from various viewpoints, and tolerating and respecting people from other cultures, with different religions and worldviews as well. The study explores the way the task is fulfilled in the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Czechia, Hungary and Serbia. A questionnaire survey has found out that students’ world-mindedness is situated roughly in the middle of the scale, between the national and global perspective. While the average value of the sample is primarily lowered by the students from Hungary and Czechia, those from Germany and Finland considerably exceed the value. Students in general show global tendencies in the Culture and attitudes to others and in the Education and learning. In the remaining topics, there is a more obvious manifestation of national tendencies (e.g. Economy and migration). Detailed analyses have proven the influence of gender, respondents’ interest in news, experience with stay abroad, etc.

AbstractThe city of Antwerp occupies a special place in the history of relations between Spain and the Netherlands during the centuries of the modern period. Hispano-Netherlandish relations in the centuries of the modern period have been studied from many different points of view. On this occasion we propose to delve into the origins of the very important links created around books and to deal, in particular, with the beginnings of the production of books in Spanish in Antwerp. Our intention here, therefore, is not to make a new listing of the editions printed at that time but a quite different one: to analyse the way in which this interesting publishing phenomenon developed in its origins and within a very specific period of time: the years prior to Christophe Plantin’s great publishing success.

This article highlights the problem of functional nutrition in Ukraine. Rationale and need for creating new products with improved properties are substantiated, the list of used natural additives, which are a source of important nutrients, is given. The results of conducted tests confirm the optimization of the chemical composition of new cereal concentrates, improvement of their organoleptic properties, an extension of shelf life, which indicates that the choice of the prescription components is correct and their rational proportion. The nutritional and biological value of Extrapolyvitamix, a new cereal concentrate, enriched with vegetable powders, wheat germ, casein iodide, and raisins, is determined. The investigations of cereal concentrate properties proved that they might be included in a group of functional foods due to changes in chemical composition, which will compensate for the deficiency of nutrients necessary for optimal body functioning after previous diseases. The rational concentrations of functional ingredients that can be used in new products are established. It is proved that the use of vegetable-based milk substitutes will allow the development of new products that meet current market needs. Taking into account global trends and changes in consumer preferences, plans for future studies focuses on creating new products with high biological value using only plant raw materials.
