Remote sensing data and geographic information systems are widely used for land suitability analysis for crops such as coffee and corn. This study aims to analyze and map suitable land for the plant known locally as ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.).  As the cultivation of this plant is expected to be developed by the Institute of Technology of Sumatra, analysis of this type is needed. The parameters used in this study were slope, land use, rainfall and soil type. Information extraction from remote sensing data was carried out via visual interpretation of aerial photography used to create land-cover maps. Shuttle RADAR Topographic Mission (SRTM) data was converted from digital surface model (DSM) to digital terrain model (DTM) to provide elevation information. Land suitability analysis was performed using a scoring method and overlay analysis. The results obtained from the analysis identified several classes of land suitability for Physalis angulata L., categorized as suitable, less suitable, and not suitable. The less suitable class, scored at 9 to 11, comprised a total area of 180.96 ha, while the suitable area, scored at 12, comprised a total area of 49.1 ha.

In this paper the information content of Boolean and fuzzy-set-based approaches to the problem of analyzing land suitability for agriculture within a geographical information system (GIS) is assessed. First, the two approaches to this problem are stated and formalized in the context of land-suitability evaluation. A database comprising 642 unique areas, 7 land qualities, 13 land characteristics, and 2 crop types is defined and described. Land-use suitability ratings for two crops, wetland rice and soybean, are generated by using Boolean and fuzzy methods. Results produced by the two methods are compared in terms of their usefulness for agricultural land-use plannning. The ARC/INFO vector-based GIS software package is utilized. The study area is the Cimanuk watershed in northwest Java, Indonesia.

This research is aimed to alocate land management and use coastal and ocean area Sub-Province base on digital through Geographical Information System (GIS). This research was done in the coastal area Kota Bengkulu, through spatial alocate analysis and land suitability analysis for brackish water fish ponds, maritime tourism and conservation areas. Approach used in this research is spatial analysis to parameter/variable and land suitability criteria consist of element abiotik, biotik, culture, and spatial use (RTRW). Land suitability analysis is done by using SIG through overlay technique. Result of research indicate that from 7 sub district of coastal area of exist in Kota Bengkulu, land suitability (S1) for brackish water fish ponds are found in sub-district Muara Bangkahulu and Kampung Melayu. Land suitability (S1) for the maritime tourism are found in sub-district Teluk Segara and Ratu Samban, while Land suitability (S1) for conservation area of are found in sub-district Kampung Melayu.

Abstract In urban development, land suitability assessment is very important to be considered by urban planners and policymakers for designing urban spatial planning. Assessment of the suitability of urban planning using a multi-hazard map is made to provide an overview of potential natural hazards that pose a threat to regional development so that the government can avoid urban development in areas prone to natural hazards or implementing urban development based on disaster mitigation. The research area is Mamuju Regency which is the capital city of West Sulawesi province which is an area that has frequently suffered damages due to floods, landslides, and earthquakes. The main scope of this research is to synthesize natural hazard maps in one multi-hazard map and thus identify suitable areas for urban development using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and utilize Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The results showed that the Mamuju area was mostly at moderate to high suitability.

The paper considers the problematic issues of the geographical information systems (GIS) use in the sociohygienic monitoring (SHM). We analyzed scientific and practical publications on this subject that are freely available on the largest Russian information portal of scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU during 2014- 2018, which allowed us to formulate the principles of organization and requirements for effective operation of geographic and information systems in the socio-hygienic monitoring. An analysis of the implementation of these principles at the present stage of development for the socio-hygienic monitoring system is presented, the results of which were used in formulating priority tasks in the area of geographic and information technology implementation into socio-hygienic monitoring and risk-based planning of control and supervisory measures: to determine the necessary level of detail and an information list depicted on electronic maps for the implementation of risk-based control planning; to provide organizational and regulatory and methodological support for the hierarchical principle of GIS within Rospotrebnadzor operating on a single software product of domestic developers for organizations and institutions; to work out the need to combine GIS with similar systems of other departments involved in the data collection of social and hygienic monitoring (Rosstat, Roshydromet, Rosprirodnadzor, Ministry of Health, etc.) to enable automated data export and import; to solve staffing issues to ensure customization and subsequent GIS operation; to provide budget funding for the purchase of licensed software products for GIS in SHM, preferably of Russian developers.
