Abstract The transformer-less grid connected inverters are gaining more popularity due to their high efficiency, very low ground leakage current and economic feasibility especially in photovoltaic systems. The major issue which surfaces these systems is that of common mode leakage current which arises due to the absence of an electrical transformer connected between the inverter and the utility grid. Several topologies have evolved to reduce the impact of common mode leakage current and a majority of them have succeeded in eliminating the impacts and have well kept them within the limits of grid standards. This paper compares and analyses the impact of the common mode leakage current for four popular inverter configurations through simulation of the topologies such as H5, H6, HERIC and FBZVR inverters.

The output power of single-phase PV inverter is AC and the input power is DC,so there exists fluctuations in the power transmission. Generally, the fluctuations can be removed by using coupling capacitors. However, the voltage fluctuations of coupling capacitors will result in corresponding input power fluctuations, and will affect the maximum power tracking of the system. In this paper, the power transfer process is analysised, and a theoretical derivation to voltage fluctuations of the generatrix capacitor and the impact on the input currents is designed. The corresponding correction control algorithm of subdivision control is developed according to its characteristics. The feasibility of the solution is verified by the 3KW experimental prototype.

In this paper the system improvements of PV-inverters with SiC-transistors are demonstrated. The basic characteristics of engineering prototypes of normally-off SiC-JFETs and SiC-MOSFETs were measured and their differences in the application are considered. To demonstrate the improvement in PV-inverter performance, a 5 kW single-phase and a three-phase full bridge inverter with normally-off SiC-JFETs were developed at Fraunhofer ISE. Different switching frequencies up to 144 kHz were applied and the impact on production costs and inverter performance was rated under the aspects of an industrial product development. This means, the influences on the efficiency and power density. In this work, a world record in PV-inverter efficiency of 99 % was achieved in a single-phase inverter and for the three-pase inverter, the power density was tripled with respect to commercially available state of the art PV-inverters.

The paper analyzes a case study of the impact of changing the nominal power ratio (NPR) on the efficiency of a PV (photovoltaic) system located in Poland. In the first stage of the research, the acceptable range of variability for NPR was determined based on simulation calculations, taking into account the parameters of PV modules, inverter, and climatic conditions. The second stage was verification tests for two acceptable extreme cases, carried out based on the analysis of detailed data from the monitoring of PV installations. The results of the verification tests for the two considered periods of operation of the PV system with the change of the NPR coefficient from 82% to 98% resulted in an increase in the annual energy yield by 446.2 kWh. On the other hand, higher relative values of generated energy were obtained only for the months with the lowest insolation in December and in January by 8.2 and 6.04 kWh/kWp, respectively. Higher oversizing of the PV generator (for NPR = 82%) also resulted in an increase by 6.4% in the frequency of operation of the PV inverter in the largest power range (2250–2500 W) and a decrease by 3.7% in the frequency in the lowest power range (0–250 W) for the whole year.

The phenomena accompanying the impact of large meteorites on the surface of the Moon or of the Earth can be examined on the basis of the theory of explosive phenomena if we assume that, instead of an exploding meteorite moving inside the rock, we have an explosive charge (equivalent in energy), situated at a certain distance under the surface.
