The application of virtual reality (VR) in higher education has drawn attention. Understanding the state of the art for VR technologies helps educators identify appropriate applications and develop a high-quality engaging teaching-learning process. This chapter provides a comprehensive survey of current hardware and software supports on VR. Secondly, important technical metrics in VR technology are considered with comparisons of different VR devices using identified metrics. Third, there is a focus on software tools and an explore of various development frameworks, which facilitate the implementation of VR applications. With this information as a foundation, there is a VR use in higher education. Finally, there is a discussion of VR applications that can be potentially used in education.

Archaeomusicological research currently con- ducted at the Institute of Musicology, University of Warsaw, institutionalised thanks to the financial support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (grant NPRH), gave the opportunity to develop a wider field of research. The project includes not only the documentation of musical instruments but first and foremost experimental studies. We started with completely new research on idiophones (e.g. on the sounds of lithophones and rattles), returned to previously closed topics (e.g. gusli from Opole), and developed reconstruction methods using state-of-the-art technology (e.g. the reconstruction of flutes).

In order to investigate and identify what the scientific productions reveal about the professionality of school pedagogical coordination, this study through the methodological path of the state-of-the-art type, sought to map the information presented in academic productions stored in the repository, Theses and Dissertations Catalog of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Following the mapping, the literature review on the concept of professionalism, the reading of the summaries of the productions found, their records and analysis of the data collected so that after this step it was possible to establish some categories, as well as highlight elements that constitute a process that we can call school pedagogical coordination professionality. The theoretical foundation of the concepts of professionalism was used respectively by the authors Dubar (2005), Nóvoa (2017), and on the attributions and knowledge of the pedagogical coordination, the authors Placco, Souza and Almeida (2012), who bring an important contribution to the study of the theme.

The objective of this paper is to discuss results obtained from a structured survey on MScs in railway transport and logistics, which has been conducted within the RiFLE project. RiFLE stands for Rail Freight and Logistics Curriculum Development and was funded by the Erasmus (LLL) programme of the European Commission. The aim of RiFLE was to develop master courses to be delivered in English language by the participating institutions as separate but shared programmes in their universities. The approach was to analyse, enhance and adapt existing courses already offered by the participating institutions within a modern rail freight and logistics environment. Therefore, the goal of the survey was to define the state of the art of the current offer of MSc ‘railway transport and logistics’ related courses across the European and non-European countries. For the collection of data, a questionnaire has been developed. ‘SuperSurvey’ was used to approach intended respondents. SuperSurvey is a user-friendly online platform for collecting information using questionnaires. The target group included professors, lecturers and masters programmes managers in transport and logistics. Existing relevant programmes from European and other universities and institutions for higher education have been collected and analysed. Information collected helped to define a comprehensive framework of transport and logistics curricula, courses and programmes and to understand different levels of learning and structures of higher education such as single modules, bachelor courses, master courses, as well as mobility programmes and patterns. Keywords: Rail freight and logistics, higher education, innovation, survey, state of the art.

During the last two decades the quantity and variety of materials providing information on higher education in Canada have increased greatly. Nevertheless, researchers, administrators, instructors and students find it difficult to identify and locate relevant items. The following article reports on a survey of Canadian agencies and institutions collecting higher education materials; identifies four problem areas - definitions, collection policies, accessibility, and collection co- ordination; and recommends further information exchange and the compilation of a more complete directory of collections in higher education.
