Nowadays, people live amidst the smart home domain, business opportunities in the industrial smart city and health care, though, along with concerns about security. Security is central for IoT systems to protect sensitive data and infrastructure, whilst security issues become increasingly expensive, in particular in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) domains. Nonetheless, there are some key challenges for dealing with those security issues in IoT domains: Applications operate in distributed environments such as Blockchain, varied smart objects are used, and sensors are limited in what comes to machine resources. In this way, traditional security does not fit in IoT systems. In this vein, the issue of cyber security has become paramount to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in mitigating cyber security risk for organizations and end users. New cyber security technologies / applications present improvements for IoT security management. Nevertheless, there is a gap on the effectiveness of IoT cyber risk solutions. This review article discusses the, trends around opportunities and threats in cyber security for IIoT.

Provision of remote services became relevant all over the world, during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Latvian supervisors were also forced to transfer their practice to the digital space as well. COVID-19 pandemic challenges opened a wider range of opportunities for improvement remote practice. Pandemic also highlighted the risks associated with lack of relevant competences. At the global level over the last decade, risks associated with remote counselling summarized in guidelines, providing professionals with examples of best practice. In Latvia, on other hand, such guidelines have not adopted yet. This study developed with the aim to find out the awareness of Latvian supervisors about the risks (cyber security) of using information technology and the protection of personal data in the conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic. To find out how Latvian supervisors are aware about the risks of using information technology (cyber security) and personal data protection, a survey conducted among Latvian supervisors and organizing an expert panel discussion, scientific strength of the study ensured by data triangulation. The obtained results allowed to conclude that the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for supervision remote practice, at the same time the research data show that the awareness of Latvian supervisors about the risks of information technology use (cyber security) and personal data protection is medium to low.The results of the research show that in the education of Latvian supervisors it is necessary to allocate place for the acquisition of information technology (cyber security) risk and personal data protection regulation. This research emphasizes the importance of several supervisors’ competences such as digital knowledge and personal data protection, however further research is needed to find the most effective methods how to improve these competences.

This article is devoted to the creation of a career-oriented (smart) laboratory, which is designed to formulate in schoolchildren basic ideas about the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, cyber security threats in this area, motivate to receive specialized education in the future and build a career in the field of Internet things (IoT) security) with the functioning of smart manufacturing. The training of schoolchildren in a vocational guidance laboratory, based on the use of interactive electronic educational resources, will primarily position the career opportunities of future specialists in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) security in the operation of smart manufacturing. Within the framework of the functioning of the laboratory, special attention of students is concentrated on the topics of the legal aspects of ensuring cyber security, the main trends in the development of cyber threats in the modern global information space and the measures necessary to neutralize them.

The article is devoted to the study of cyber security problems in the Smart Cities system. The development of the IT industry has led to the introduction of new technologies into our lives. One of these technologies is the Internet of Things technology. The application of IoT technology has increased in recent years. One of the most important areas in which Internet of Things technology is applied is the Smart Cities system. The main difference between smart cities and other cities is that their components are connected to each other via the Internet. All these smart devices create a smart city system in general. One of the biggest and most important problems in many areas where the Internet is used is security. The article looks at possible security problems in the system of smart cities and solutions to ensure cyber security. Key words: Smart city; Internet of Things; Information technologies; Security; Cyber security
