INTRODUCTION: There is no consensus of what skills can be developed from the learning of Computation Thinking (CT). However, teachers and researchers agreed that by the learning of CT individuals can acquire and expand many abilities. Courses have been carried out in Brazil and in other countries with the aim of motivating teachers on adding CT to classroom practices. OBJECTIVE: This article to present a case study that investigated the feasibility of introducing activities of CT for primary school children. Such activities were created and mediated by the teachers of Primary School. METHOD: First, a continuing education course about Computational Thinking was conducted with the participation of 14 teachers. The participants could understand the fundamentals of CT, and consequently, became able to planning and conducting CT activities by themselves in their classrooms. After, we analyzed the data gathered during the course under the quantitative and qualitative lenses. RESULTS: The results showed that the participants had a degree of agreement between 56% and 71% regarding the understanding and applicability of CT to developing skills in Primary School. The qualitative findings revealed that the participants could prepare activities that linked CT to topics presented in the subjects of Primary School. Besides, we could identify three patterns of shaping the activities in which this "computational think" were incorporated. CONCLUSION: Practices to stimulate the CT in students are mediated by using different teaching strategies as such Gamification and Culture Maker. These activities also enable the development of skills related to the National Curricular Common Base

The purpose of this study is to figure out of work engagement on temporary teacher. The method used in this study is qualitative with case study approach. This study conduct in Elementary School Gunung Maddah IV Sampang-Madura, East Java Province. The participants were choosen after former interview to the Headmaster to gain initial description about the temporary teacher’s condition in his school. Finally was choosen 2 from 6 temporary teachers as participants in this study. The narratives of two teacher were used to describe work engagement on temporary teacher. The participants narrated the vigor, dedication, and absorption as the key elements in conduct their work engagement.

The backdrop of this research is among others (1) the content of article 8 legislation national education system 20/2003 that the society takes the participation in planning and evaluating education, (2) the criterion of curriculum 2013 that is integrated and has a theme of natural environment, (3) the reality in the field showing that mathematics is not too meaningful, (4) do not use the school environment yet in outdoor learning so that can implant the attitude of caring about the envoronment. Based on the backdrop, the problem statement of this research is: how to develop thematic mathematics book based on environment with a realistic approach to implant the attitude of caring about the environment at the students of elementary school grade one in Kupang as early as possible? The method used is Research and Development with a type of Formative Research introduced by Tessmer in 1993. There are three steps in this research among others (1) the step of getting early data by using survey method analysed descriptively, (2) the step of developing the thematic mathematics books validated by the expert of education and mathematics (3) experiment step that is analysed with an inferensial statistic by using dependent t correlation analysis to know the difference of the student’s mathematics knowledge before and after using the learning tool developed and to implant the attitude of caring about the environment at the students. The school used as the limited class test or small class test toward the product developed is Directive Primary School Naimata Kupang, meanwhile for the big class test is Catholic Primary School St. Arnoldus Kupang. The basic reason to choose both of the schools is the minimum of reference books used by the teachers at grade one at the schools, and they do not use the large area of the schools field as a medium in learning. The result of the research based on the problem statement showing that almost all the students is very active and have a positive response. The attitude of caring about the environment begin to appear after using the thematic mathematics book developed, as a guide book for the teachers and the practice book for the students. Besides, the students’ understanding toward the number basic concept, the number operations and the two dimension also increase and the misconception doesn’t occur.

This paper makes a case study of an elementary school in Feng-shan District, Kaohsiung City. According to “The handbook of seismic resistant evaluation standard for school buildings” issued by National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) in 2009, this study analyzes elementary school building adopting braced steel frame retrofit system, conducts seismic evaluation, as well as compares its seismic performance with shear-wall retrofit structure and RC strengthening of columns . If space permits, braced steel frame retrofit system can be applied into school building retrofit scheme; its seismic performance is compared with shear wall and RC strengthening of columns proposals. Adopting shear wall or RC strengthening of columns retrofit would affect main structure system of school building. These constructions will make existing reinforced concrete school building crack, especially old school building whose structure strength is greatly influenced. Therefore, an economic braced portal frame systems are proposed as new way of retrofitting. This paper uses ETABS program to make a seismic evaluation for structural system of the study object. It also compares the research object with commonly-used shear wall retrofit and RC strengthening of columns retrofit, thus to judge whether it meets requirements stipulated in seismic standards issued by NCREE and provide an another alternative scheme for the primary school retrofit construction.
