Inventories are main resources of the trading company. Analysis, accounting and control of inventories determines the management effectiveness of commercial enterprises processes. It is necessary to accelerate the turnover of commodity resources in order to increase the profits of a trading company. Successful turnover of commodity resources can be determined with the help of high-quality operational management accounting information, which is the basis for analysis, decision-making and further control of the trading company. Obtaining management information achieved with establishment of an effective accounting policy, which is the direct responsibility of the company's management. The interdependence of the accounting policy type, quality management accounting, operational analysis and clear control over inventories at the trade enterprise determines the effectiveness of enterprise management and profit in the long-term perspective.

The triumphant Sandinista revolution inherited a health situation characterized by high mortality, low life expectancy, widespread malnutrition, and a medical system limited in scope. The extent of these problems can only be estimated as a result of the somocista government's failure to develop an accurate system of vital statistics. While there are many options available for rapidly decreasing the high levels of mortality and morbidity in Nicaragua, the revolutionary government has chosen a strategy which fuses public health and politics. A health network based on popular participation and control is being formed which should not only decrease the high rates of malnutrition and infectious diseases in a cost-efficient manner, but should increase the strength of the revolution as well.

Purpose In recent decades, higher education institutions have been encouraged to develop their own internal management systems as a response to perceived quality challenges in the sector. These quality management (QM) systems have often been found to mainly reflect external accountability requirements, with less focus on coherent study programme development. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between QM practices and study programme delivery in Norwegian higher education institutions. Design/methodology/approach The study examined how coordination and control of quality work with respect to educational activities take place, using data from a survey to study programme leaders in a large sample of Norwegian higher education institutions. Findings The main findings show that a majority of institutions have established formal advisory bodies with a QM mandate, contributing to more coherent thinking, even though the division of labour between these bodies and formal decision-making structures often is unclear. The study also shows a high level of diversity in the collaboration practices among different actors involved in QM work, indicating that QM practices are adapted to local needs. Originality/value The paper provides new knowledge as to how QM is conducted in practice at the local level. It nuances earlier studies by showing the involvement of collegial bodies in QM although such bodies may have unclear mandates and, thus, an unclear role in the QM process.

Demand Side Energy Management System (DSEMS) manages energy demand by controlling end-use appliances in a refined, energy-saving, cost-efficient and user-friendly way. The DSEMS runs on an Android tablet computer, which serves as energy gateway to communicate with two types of controllers via ZigBee network. Smart sockets connected to the ZigBee network will monitor and control plug-in loads and IR remote controller (IRRC) for air-conditioner temperature setting. The proposed system has been installed in an apartment with over 24 rooms as a paradigm, which proved that the DSEMS can realize the autonomous energy-saving via real-time surveillance and control on household appliances.

This paper presents a new chain coordination model for quality management strategies of European pork supply chains. It is a result of qualitative research into intensive and extensive pork production in seven selected countries consisting of a literature review, country-specific expert interviews and case studies. The model defines strategic roles and responsibilities for quality management actors on normative, strategic and operational levels and groups these actors into the categories certification, coordination and control. New actors have been defined for the category 'coordination of quality management strategies': the chain quality board (normative), the network coordinator (strategic) and the quality broker (operational level). The proposed concept of a quality broker represents an innovative approach to facilitate implementation of coordination mechanisms in pork supply chains. In addition, coordination mechanisms have been defined and classified under the headings contracts, information technology, information sharing and joint decision making. The model represents an organizational concept applicable to a broad diversity of pork supply chains. It is intended to facilitate the establishment and management of quality management strategies to strengthen the competitiveness of European pork producers.
