As the most efficient way of connecting distributed generations which are mainly based on renewable resources to the power grid, the microgrid has been in fast development in recent years. The paper is based on the summary of the present situation of research on microgrid all over the world and the key technology urgently to be solved, and then the advantage and the necessity of developing DC microgrid is analysed in terms of components as well as operation and control of microgrid. At last, an AC/DC hybrid microgrid structure is proposed according to the present circumstances in the distribution network.

As demand for electricity grows in China, the existing power grid is coming under increasing pressure. Expansion of power generation and delivery capacities across the country requires years of planning and construction. In the meantime, to ensure safe operation of the power grid, it is important to coordinate and optimize the demand side usage. In this paper, we report on our experience deploying an artificial intelligence (AI)–empowered demand-side management platform – the Power Intelligent Decision Support (PIDS) platform – in Shandong Province, China. It consists of three main components: 1) short-term power consumption gap prediction, 2) fine-grained Demand Response (DR) with optimal power adjustment planning, and 3) Orderly Power Utilization (OPU) recommendations to ensure stable operation while minimizing power disruptions and improving fair treatment of participating companies. PIDS has been deployed since August 2018. It is helping over 400 companies optimize their power usage through DR, while dynamically managing the OPU process for around 10,000 companies. Compared to the previous system, power outage under PIDS due to forced shutdown has been reduced from 16% to 0.56%.

BIM has been proven to be a key technology capable of enhancing informatization and realizing management improvement in the architectural industry. This paper discusses studies on building information sharing based on BIM and VR technology and relevant applications. It means to, on the basis of the building information modeling (BIM), integrate the BIM and VR technology and develop a manageable, amendable and expandable digital building/facility delivery system, so as to set up an integrated and 3D visual building information inquiry and management platform for construction and post-delivery operation & management.

Aiming at small islands location limits and the established power grid characteristics, the paper analyses some practical problems to be dealt with when renewable resource is utilized. Combined with the characteristics of small islands, the paper puts forward the new mode without energy storage devices, and designs a renewable resource application system driven directly by photovoltaic devices, emphatically analyses the key technology of no energy storage mode. The new mode effectively resolves the battle neck problem of traditional off-net mode.
