This study seeks to achieve two objectives; (1) to examine the degree of compliance with corporate governance requirements in Palestine and Jordan by listed firms, and (2) to investigate the impact of corporate governance on quality of disclosure for Palestinian and Jordanian listed firms. A sample of 15 Palestinian listed companies and 30 Jordanian listed companies that fully disclosed their financial data in year 2007 and 2014 was used. This research employs multiple regression model and one sample t-test in order to analyze data variables and to test the research hypotheses. The research reveals that there are no statistically significant differences between Jordan and Palestinian listed firms in applying the respective codes of corporate governance, but these two countries are relatively still modest in observing corporate governance rules. This study also concludes that boards of director’s characteristics have no significant impact on quality of disclosure in Palestine and Jordan. This indicates that corporate governance practices didn’t have any significant effect on quality of disclosurefor Palestinian and Jordanian listed firms.

Most of the existing studies on the impact of disclosure quality of listed companies on the investment efficiency of enterprises are based on the static level, and the article investigates the evolution of disclosure quality on the investment efficiency of enterprises from the dynamic level by dividing the life cycle of enterprises. Taking the data of Shenzhen civil engineering companies from 2013-2017 as the research sample, it uses multiple regression analysis to empirically test the impact of disclosure quality of listed companies on the investment efficiency of enterprises at different life cycle stages. The results show that when no distinction is made between life cycle stages, high quality disclosure can significantly inhibit the inefficient investment behavior of firms; in the growth and maturity samples, high quality disclosure can significantly inhibit underinvestment and overinvestment; in the recessionary samples, high quality disclosure can significantly inhibit underinvestment and has no significant effect on overinvestment.

The study aimed to measure the impact of applying governance standards in evaluating the quality of internal audit in Yemeni private universities. To achieve this, the researcher followed the descriptive and analytical approach and employed a questionnaire to collect data from a sample that included (68) participants. After conducting relative analysis, governance was at an average level of (64.9%). There was also a slight variation in the level of implementation, as the dimension of transparency and disclosure was the most frequent dimension, followed by accountability and independence. Further, there was a medium level of adherence to internal auditing standards at a relative weight (65%). The level of commitment to the audit dimensions was as follows: managing the internal audit activities (67%), communicating the results (66%), assessing the risk and control management (64%), and planning and implementing the audit process (62%). and The study also found that the combined governance standards (transparency and disclosure, accountability, independence) increase the quality of the internal audit in Yemeni private universities and the highest dimensions of governance standards affecting the quality of internal auditing are the dimension of independence (80.3%), accountability (71.7%), and disclosure and transparency (63.7%). In light of this, the study recommended adopting governance standards as an integrated approach to achieve quality performance in private Yemeni universities; spreading the culture of governance in private universities among their leaders and staff by holding training courses, seminars, and conferences in order to be accepted and absorbed. In addition, governance should be included in some related academic courses in the disciplines of administrative and accounting sciences. This article uses the selected data listed companies in Shenzhen Stock Exchange from 2008 to 2018 as big data samples to empirically study the impact of the board faultlines on corporate disclosure quality. Through statistical analysis and economic model, it transforms qualitative questions into quantitative questions. The results of the study show that the existence of the board faultlines will reduce the quality of information disclosure of listed companies. After a series of robustness tests, the above research findings are still robust.

This research study examines the effects of audit firm rotation on audit quality for non- financial public listed companies in Bhutan. Currently, Bhutan has only 21 companies listed on the Royal Securities Exchange of Bhutan Limited (RSEBL). Secondary data obtained for the period of 10 years, between 2009 to 2018, were analyzed using regression analysis. Abnormal Working Capitals Accruals (AWCA) has been used as proxy for audit quality. The study concludes that audit firm rotation has an insignificant but positive relation with AWCA. Thus, in Bhutan audit firm rotation does not affect audit quality for non-financial public companies, which are in tune with prior studies. Further, it was observed that there is an insignificant relation between AWCA and all control variables with the exception of growth. Growth has a decreasing trend at the rate of -0.13 percent while the trend analysis of AWCA shows that audit quality of non-financial public listed companies has been increasing at the rate of 21.01 percent which is an indirect evidence of low audit quality

Auditor independence and the quality of audit report is of growing concern to regulators, institutional investors and stakeholders as a series of accounting scandals have undermined the professionalism of auditors. The findings from this study produced an insight of how auditor’s independence improve audit quality and that abnormal audit fees is as a result of additional effort for auditor to carry out rigorous audit engagement as a result of wider audit scope; that mandatory audit firm rotation will enhance auditor independence, and that audit committee with nonexecutive independence will promote audit quality. The study also finds that in terms of auditor size, smaller audit firms that belong to professional bodies will provide higher audit quality. The main conclusion of this research is that where an auditor is fully independent in carrying out audit engagement with strong resistance to fees pressure will enhance audit quality. This research provides insight into the impact of IFRS adoption on audit fees.

The study aims at investigating the impact of external audit quality features on enhancing the quality of accounting profits of the listed manufacturing firms at Amman Stock Exchange (ASE), where continuity of profit has been used as Proxy variable to express the quality of earnings. Indicators of quality of audit, audit office size, auditors' fees, period of customer's retention, type of auditor's opinion, and the specialization in client's industry, were used to measure audit quality. A sample of 45 firms had been selected, and data covering the period 2009-2013 had been collected from these firms, where 225 observations were used in the analysis. The study finds that the earnings of listed manufacturing firms at Amman Stock Exchange are with good quality, and that there is a linear relationship between external audit quality and the quality of reported earnings. Auditors' fees have most important significant effect on earnings quality, followed by auditors' opinion, where others factors has no significant effect on earnings quality. Based on these findings, the study raises several questions about the reliability of audit quality properties by stakeholders in firms, especially investors, when they check the quality of earnings, whenever they need to take a decision. The study recommends further researches regarding the issue by using other metrics to measure earnings quality, and through the addition of other properties to the quality of the audit, such as linked audit offices with auditing global offices, degree of qualification employees, and the opened lawsuits against audit office.
