Life course events can change household travel demand dramatically. Recent studies of car ownership have examined the impacts of life course events on the purchasing, replacing, and disposing of cars. However, with the increasing diversification of mobility tools, changing the fleet size is not the only option to adapt to the change caused by life course events. People have various options with the development of sustainable mobility tools including electric car, electric bike, and car sharing. In order to determine the impacts of life course events on car ownership and the decision of mobility tool type, a stated choice experiment was conducted. The experiment also investigated how the attributes of mobility tools related to the acceptance of them. Based on existing literature, we identified the attributes of mobility tools and several life course events which are considered to be influential in car ownership decision and new types of mobility tools choice. The error component random parameter logit model was estimated. The heterogeneity across people on current car and specific mobility tools are considered. The results indicate people incline not to sell their current car when they choose an electric bike or shared car. Regarding the life course events, baby birth increases the probability to purchase an additional car, while it decreases the probability to purchase an electric bike or joining a car sharing scheme. Moreover, the estimation of error components implies that there is unobserved heterogeneity across respondents on the sustainable mobility tools choice and the decision on household’s current car.

The issue of global warming is very strong in the force in the procession, the damage caused by global warming is very influential in the survival of living beings. The methods performed in this study are experimental methods. The experiments performed were to make a design and to become a unity so that it formed a tool of electric bicycle transportation that can be used well. This thesis author devise and assemble electric bicycle using DC electric motor 24 Volt 250 Watt and 3000 rpm. The power system used is 24 Volt 12 Ampere battery. From the results of the test and analysis of data that has been taken on the electric bicycle obtained data of the average speed obtained by the electric bike with a load of 78 = 4.94 m/s, load 83 = 4.59 m/s, load 88 = 4.25 m/s, power output to drive electric bicycle with load 78 = 266.679 Watt, load 83 = 263.810 Watt, load 88 = 258.984 Watt. Isu pemanasan global sangat kuat di gencar disuarakan, kerusakan yang disebabkan pemanasan global sangat berpengaruh pada kelangsungan hidup makluk hidup. Metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Eksperimen yang dilakukan adalah membuat sebuah rancangan dan merakitnya menjadi suatu kesatuan sehingga terbentuk sebuah alat transportasi sepeda listrikyang dapat digunakan dengan baik. Skripsi ini penulis merancang dan merakit sepeda listrik dengan menggunakan motor listrik DC 24 Volt 250 Watt dan 3000 rpm. Sistem daya yang digunakan adalah baterai 24 Volt 12 Ampere. Dari hasil pengujian dan analisis data yang telah diambil pada sepeda listrik didapatkan data berupa kecepatan rata-rata yang didapatkan sepeda listrik dengan beban 78 = 4,94 m/s, beban 83 = 4,59 m/s, beban 88 = 4,25 m/s, daya output untuk menggerakkan sepeda listrik  dengan beban 78 = 266,679 Watt, beban 83 = 263,810 Watt, beban 88 = 258,984 Watt.

The increasing urbanization with climate change, global warming issues and the related need to decarbonize the economy, is forcing urgency for identifying the alternate source for the global adoption and sustainable scalable solutions. The country’s demographic and road patterns and its natural resources availability provide enormous scope for the electric bike industry. As per the “Navigant Research Report”, it is predicted that by 2018, the sales of electric vehicles in India will shoot up by 17 percent. 1.1 million electric vehicles will be targeted within next five years. A recent study on the environment impact of e-bikes with other forms of transportation found that e-bikes are about 18 times more energy consumption than SUV, 13 times than a sedan, 6 times more than rail transit, and it is having considered as an innovated conventional bicycle. It is a frugal innovation strategy which provide safe carbon free environment, and moreover a part of health rehabilitation programmes. It is required that societal, economic and political and infrastructure systems integrate together to balance the energy environment. With this potential, the era of electric bike started its new avenues on the roads of India specifically focusing on Indian women. To develop this viewpoint, the present study focuses on the preference of e-bike among the women in Madurai city.
