The aim of the current study was to examine how popular is Islamic finance in the USA during the period 2014-2019 using Google Trends. In addition, the interest in Islamic finance across different US states was also investigated. Using “Islamic finance” and “Islamic bank” as search terms in Goggle Trends, the trend curve showed decreases in search volumes, suggesting a decline in the popularity of Islamic finance in the USA with years. Search volumes were detected in seven out of 50 states, suggesting low interest in Islamic finance in the majority of US states. The order of the popularity in the seven states was: Virginia > New York > New Jersey > Illinois > Texas > California > Pennsylvania > Georgia > Florida > Massachusetts. Longitudinal survey studies are needed to confirm the present findings.

The purpose of this paper is to find the optimal portfolio of Hajj fund management by the Islamic banks in Indonesia. BPKH, as an authority, can place the Hajj fund on Islamic bank deposits. However, Islamic banks limited the expected returns and risks set by BPKH so that the appropriate strategy is required to establish the optimal of portfolio. Islamic banks face a trade-off because of the increased level of risk constrains the intention to get higher returns. This study uses a mean-variance portfolio optimization theory to construct such an optimal portfolio. Finally, this study recommends Murabaha financing and SBIS to Islamic banks as the optimal portfolio selection. The combination of an efficient portfolio that has formed cannot be fully employed because the expectation limits them. However, Islamic banks can still select the optimal portfolio combination according to their risk preferences.JEL Classification: G11, G18

Deposits are like the bloodline for banks as they determine banks' lending capacity and a country's economic savings. However, the existence of a dual banking system poses a challenge to Malaysian Islamic banks competing for deposits. Despite this problem, few investigations were done to comprehensively identify the factors that could help banks attract deposits, particularly for Islamic banks. The purpose of this paper is to fill this gap on deposits of 16 Islamic banks in Malaysia. Secondary data from the bank's annual reports and the Department of Statistics of Malaysia from 2015 to 2019 were analyzed, comprising Islamic Bank Deposits and seven predictors in an empirical model using STATA. The result shows a strong model fit with 92% R squared value that Return on Assets, bank concentration, and Business Enterprise Depositor affect Islamic Bank Deposits positively and significantly while Capital Adequacy Ratio showed negative and significant influence on the deposits. These factors are strongly effective to deposits, significant at 1% level. In contrast, Financing Deposit Ratio and Gross Domestic Product do not significantly influence Islamic deposits. Contrary to economic theory, this study found that an increase in inflation encourages customers to increase their saving deposits in Malaysian Islamic banks. The findings from this study are unique to Malaysian Islamic banks. They indicate important policy implications for Islamic banks practitioners, namely, to increase their focus on business enterprise customers, improve bank's market share and profitability in order to increase deposits while taking advantage of high inflationary period to attract more depositors.

Abstract: The rapid development of the number of islamic banks should be balanced with the availability of infrastructure to carry out daily operational practices. The operational tools include hardware as like as representative office, computerized system, reliable human resources and software as like as method, culture and financial and islamic banking knowledge. In terms of development of Islamic finance is the paper "Alternative Calculation of Return Shahibul Mal on Mudharabah Scheme on Bank Syariah" was written. During this calculation of return shahibul mal has not been standardized in a formula, thus causing two serious effects. First, in the theoretical level, the formula has not yet created a difficulty. Secondly, in practical level, the formula is not impressive enough to recalculate the complexity of return calculations obtained by shahibul mall, causing laziness of the community using the services of islamic bank. This paper using mathematical and arithmetic equations with the help of modeling made by the author to refine and improve the method of calculation that has been available. The purpose of this paper is to create a standard formula that facilitates the calculation of return earned by a shahibul mal in a mudaraba scheme in a islamic bank.

This article explains about the Islamic law of gift from Bank to customers related to saving and gyro accounts of Islamic Bank. The Islamic Banks give gift directly  and  indirectly  to  new  ettstomers  and  old  customers  through drawing  (qur'ah) or lottery and non-drawing. There are disputes (ikhtilaf) among Islamic Law  Experts (Fuqaha’) about the status of law when Islamic Banks give the gift. Hanafi and  Syafi'i  Schools  of thought  opined  that  the gift  can  be given  to  the customers as long as there is no agreement between bank and costomers meanwhile the banks still have a debt to consumers, this is permissible. Maliki and Hanbali schools opined that the gift is not permissible during the time of borrowing and lending. Majority Islamic Exsperts allow to give gift after banks have already paid back the debt to consumers as long as there is no agreement between bank and cusiomers, but Maliki School do not allow lo give gift at that condition. Also, for giving gift should free from gambling or elements of gambling (muqamarah).  The method of this article is using literature reviews from classical Islamic Law's books and contemporary Islamic law's books related to drawing or lottery and gambling, meanwhile the aims if this mticle are to investigate the law status if gift from bank to new customers and old customers with direct and indirect ways.   Keywords : gift, saving and gyro accounts, disputes, drawing and elements of gambling
