AbstractWith the rapid development of smart grids and increasing data collected in these networks, analyzing this massive data for applications such as marketing, cyber-security, and performance analysis, has gained popularity. This paper focuses on analysis and performance evaluation of big data frameworks that are proposed for handling smart grid data. Since obtaining large amounts of smart grid data is difficult due to privacy concerns, we propose and implement a large scale smart grid data generator to produce massive data under conditions similar to those in real smart grids. We use four open source big data frameworks namely Hadoop-Hbase, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB, in our implementation. Finally, we evaluate the performance of different frameworks on smart grid big data and present a performance benchmark that includes common data analysis techniques on smart grid data.

The epoch of the big data presents many opportunities for the development in the range of data science, biomedical research cyber security, and cloud computing. Nowadays the big data gained popularity.  It also invites many provocations and upshot in the security and privacy of the big data. There are various type of threats, attacks such as leakage of data, the third party tries to access, viruses and vulnerability that stand against the security of the big data. This paper will discuss about the security threats and their approximate method in the field of biomedical research, cyber security and cloud computing.

The cyber physical system safety and security is the major concern on the incorporated components with interface standards, communication protocols, physical operational characteristics, and real-time sensing. The seamless integration of computational and distributed physical components with intelligent mechanisms increases the adaptability, autonomy, efficiency, functionality, reliability, safety, and usability of cyber-physical systems. In IoT-enabled cyber physical systems, cyber security is an essential challenge due to IoT devices in industrial control systems. Computational intelligence algorithms have been proposed to detect and mitigate the cyber-attacks in cyber physical systems, smart grids, power systems. The various machine learning approaches towards securing CPS is observed based on the performance metrics like detection accuracy, average classification rate, false negative rate, false positive rate, processing time per packet. A unique feature of CPS is considered through structural adaptation which facilitates a self-healing CPS.

The motivation behind this chapter is to highlight the qualities, security issue, advantages, and disadvantages of big data. In the recent researches, the issue and challenges are due to the exponential growth of social media data and other images and videos. Big data security threats are rising, which is affecting the data heterogeneity adaptability and privacy preservation analytics. Big data analytics helps cyber security, but no new application can be envisioned without delivering new types of information, working on data-driven calculations and expending determined measure of information. This chapter demonstrates how innate attributes of big data are protected.

Franchising has been a popular approach to growing a business. Leveraging big data for growing a franchise business is also getting popular. In this chapter, the authors show that building a good “family” relationship between the franchisor and the franchisee is the real essence of franchising, and big data strategy shall be designed to enhance and advance the “family” relationship. Specifically, the authors discuss the strategy of how to make big data “meaningful” in franchising. Future trends on cyber security and sustainability are also discussed.
