The wafer analyzer has been used to fulfil many applications needs in the semiconductor industry. The prominent features of the XRF method for the semiconductor industry are:analysis of many types of films, e.g., oxides, silicides and metallic alloys, and simultaneous analysis of film thickness and compositions.In the past, the analysis results of BPSG (Boron-doped Phospho-Silicate Glass) films, with thicknesses greater than 4000 Å, were reported. With the recent increased demand for larger scale and higher quality semiconductor devices (larger than 64 Mbit), more accurate analysis with high precision has been required.

ABSTRACTNew liquid crystalline thermosets have been prepared from end-functional monomers and oligomers of varying molecular weight. Both triazine and epoxy networks were explored. Of primary interest was the exploitation of the mesophase properties of these networks for developing polymers with high thermal stability and low coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE). Curing was carried out either within the nematic mesophase or the isotropic phase of the prepolymers. Transition temperatures associated with the mesophase were observed to change after curing under these two sets of conditions. The networks with the highest crosslink density were found to exhibit the lowest CTE values. Crosslinking of these thermosets was also carried out in the presence of a 13.5 Tesla magnetic field to determine the effect of orienting fields on the curing of the LC network. Orientation parameters as measured by wide angle x-ray diffraction were as high as 0.6. Values of the coefficient of thermal expansion as low as 15 ppm were achieved in the aligned direction. Of the two resin types, those with the triazine crosslinks had the lowest thermal expansion coefficient. Other thermal properties of these networks will be discussed.

Abstract This paper presents the accuracy investigation results and functionality of Ubisense RTLS positioning system. Three kinds of studies were conducted: test of calibration accuracy, analysis of theoretical accuracy of the coordinates determination as well as accuracy measurements in field conditions. Test of calibration accuracy was made with several different geometric constellation of reference points (tag positions). We determined changes of orientation parameters of receivers and disturbance of positioning points coordinates against chosen reference points constellations. Analysis of theoretical accuracy was made for several receivers spatial positions and their orientations. It allowed to indicate favourable and unfavourable measurement area considering accuracy and reliability. Real positioning accuracy of the Ubisense system was determined by comparison with coordinates measured using precise tacheometer TCRP1201+. Results of conducted experiments and accuracy analysis of test measurement were presented in figures and diagrams.

One of the most common types of experiment in X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measures the secondary inelastically scattered fluorescence photon. This widespread approach has a dominant systematic of self-absorption of the fluorescence photon. The large impact of self-absorption compromises accuracy, analysis and insight. Presented here is a detailed self-consistent method to correct for self-absorption and attenuation in fluorescence X-ray measurements. This method and the resulting software package can be applied to any fluorescence data, for XAS or any other experimental approach detecting fluorescence or inelastically scattered radiation, leading to a general solution applicable to a wide range of experimental investigations. The high intrinsic accuracy of the processed data allows these features to be well modelled and yields deeper potential insight.

In dense stereo matching applications surface reflections may lead to incorrect measurements and blunders in the resulting point cloud. To overcome the problem of disturbing reflexions polarising filters can be mounted on the camera lens and light source. Reflections in the images can be suppressed by crossing the polarising direction of the filters leading to homogeneous illuminated images and better matching results.<br> However, the filter may influence the camera’s orientation parameters as well as the measuring accuracy. To quantify these effects, a calibration and an accuracy analysis is conducted within a spatial test arrangement according to the German guideline VDI/VDE 2634.1 (2002) using a DSLR with and without polarising filter. In a second test, the interior orientation is analysed in more detail. The results do not show significant changes of the measuring accuracy in object space and only very small changes of the interior orientation (&amp;Delta;c&amp;thinsp;&amp;leq;&amp;thinsp;4&amp;thinsp;&amp;mu;m) with the polarising filter in use.<br> Since in medical applications many tiny reflections are present and impede robust surface measurements, a prototypic trinocular endoscope is equipped with polarising technique. The interior and relative orientation is determined and analysed. The advantage of the polarising technique for medical image matching is shown in an experiment with a moistened pig kidney. The accuracy and completeness of the resulting point cloud can be improved clearly when using polarising filters. Furthermore, an accuracy analysis using a laser triangulation system is performed and the special reflection properties of metallic surfaces are presented.
