PALABRAS CLAVE: (desarrollo, deserción, estudiantil,  nivelación y procesos).THE STUDENT DROPOUT IN THE PROCESSES OF HIGHER EDUCATION LEVEL ABSTRACTThe permanent longing families and the young ecuadorians by access to an institution of higher education and from this condition contribute to the improvement of their standard of living, to the development and sustainability of the villages, mainly with frequency is affected; there are several students who decide to leave the leveling or withdraw from the University by different factors. This article after an arduous exploratory research, summarizes the reasons that have motivated the defection of young students in the process of leveling of the State University of the South of Manabi race in the last two (2) periods of the year 2017, as well as the involvement in the growth of the student population of the institution concerned; among the consulted factors is economic type, income level of the family of the student, need to work to support studies, lack of appropriate mechanisms that allow student finance.KEYWORDS: (development, desertion, student,  leveling, and processes)

Young people involved in higher education have created a specific culture, to which, in addition to their studies, social and cultural activities associated with university life are also related (Kozma, 2006). Among these activities, student employment and participation in civic organizations should be highlighted. Voluntary and paid work among higher education students is increasing. These activities have several advantages in terms of future benefits; however, the attracting role of the labour market is one possible reason for dropout. In our current research, we emphasize the role of employment and civil activity in the development of student dropout. Masevičiūtė et al. (2018) found that a quarter of students stopped studying for work-related reasons. In addition, a negative perception of the marketability of the course they are on may lead to the interruption of university studies. In our study, we analysed the extent to which students are willing to interrupt their higher education studies in exchange for voluntary work. In our current research, we examined how often and for what reasons students who dropped out did paid work and volunteering during their studies.

Over the past two decades the attrition of students in higher education has raised grave concerns. These concerns were raised initially over the higher rates of attrition of minority students in the early 1980s following a decade of record rates of minority enrollment in higher education institutions during the 1970s. However, by the mid-1980s the rates of high attrition of African-American and Hispanic students had grabbed the attention of the academic community across the country. When scholars and higher education administrators began to take notice of the higher rates of attrition of minority students they found out that student dropout and attrition in higher education institutions was a problem with all students, not just students of color. This article summarizes and presents perspectives on the causes of attrition and the problems of the retention of students in higher education. These ideas and perspectives are based on what has been learned from research on student retention over the past two decades. Also, programmatic strategies that have been implemented at institutions are summarized as examples of student retention initiatives that have had significant impacts.

Student dropout in higher education has been of great interest to the academic community, state and social actors over the last three decades, due to the various effects that this event has on the student, the family, higher education institutions, and the state itself. It is recognised that dropout at this level of education is extremely complex due to its multi-causality which is expressed in the existing relationship in its explanatory variables associated with the students, their socioeconomic and academic conditions, as well as the characteristics of the educational institutions. Thus, the aim of this article was to identify the individual, socioeconomic, academic, and institutional explanatory variables involved in student dropout in rural populations, based on a synthesis of the evidence available in the SCOPUS database. In order to achieve it, a mixed systematic review was defined under the PRISMA 2020 method. The analysis was approached in two stages; the first concerned the identification of the documents and the conformation of the sample, where 21 documents were distinguished for effectively dealing with dropout in rural higher education; and the second corresponded to the procedures defined for the development of the bibliometric analysis and synthesis of the information found in the documents. The results showed the distribution of studies by country, years of publication, the categorisation of the documents in SCOPUS, their classification by type and the methodologies used in the development of the studies analysed, as well as the variables that have been addressed in previous research. In this way, it is concluded that the results of the studies are not generalisable, either because of the size of the sample or because of the marked social asymmetries that exist in some countries, which can make the findings lack significance; on the other hand, the interest in research on variables associated with individual and academic determinants to explain rural student dropout is highlighted. In addition, some future research lines which can be addressed as a complement to the current view of the dropout event in rural higher education were identified.

Analyzed is contingent of potential candidates for dropping out of university because of academic failure has never been the object of special methodical consideration. The technology of overcoming low academic performance of this category of students through the formation of professional-educational subjective position of students has been developed. It is based on the collective personification of the learning process, self-study of students, thematic cluster training.

In this article, we present a systematic literature review, carried out from February to March 2020, on the application of a machine learning technique to predict student dropout in higher education institutions. Besides describing the protocol followed during our research, which includes the research questions, searched databases and query strings, along with criteria for inclusion and exclusion of articles, we also present our main results, in terms of the attributes used by current research on this theme, along with adopted approaches, specific algorithms, and evalution metrics. The Decision Tree technique is the most used for the construction of models, and accuracy and recall and precision being the most used metric for evaluating models.

Background and aims Our research is a part of a complex dropout research, whose main aim is to examine the time changes, social and regional inequalities, and constitutional differentiation of student dropout, appearing on a large scale and causing individual and institutional loss. As a part of this, the aim of our research on one hand is to identify the training fields and training levels with high dropout risk, furthermore to draw the patterns of dropout based on the available countrywide data. Methods We analyzed the database of the Hungarian Higher Education Informational System for our research, especially considering the students starting their training, based on final exam. We examined the most important features of advancements in studies, furthermore the occurring recoils. Considering our data, the measure of dropout remarkable differs based on the training fields and schedule, training, finances and some demographically background variable as well, taking the measure of dropout and its reasons into account. During our analysis, we separated three main types of the dropout’s reasons: financial reasons, study inefficiency, and dropout caused by other reasons. Results In this study, we examine these types and their characteristics in three different training levels: Bachelor degree programs, undivided, long-cycle Master courses, and short-cycle higher education vocational training. Discussion Almost one third of the students end up joining the group of dropout in all kind of training type, especially critical period is from the second to the fifth semester. The most endangered are males, correspondent students, fee-paying students, participants of higher education vocational training, furthermore the students of science and students of IT fields.
