The simulation results of 4 kW induction motor electric drive with scalar control system and different control topologies are presented. The perspective directions of further investigations on improving energy efficiency of electric drives with scalar control systems are highlighted.

During the operation of electric induction motors used to drive passenger elevators, electro-mechanical transient processes occur, which can cause unacceptable dynamic loads and vibrations. In this regard, research is needed both at the design stage and for operating elevator systems to determine the arising impact currents and torques, in order to propose solutions for their limitation within pre-set limits. Paper deals with starting processes in a two-speed induction motor drive of a passenger elevator. The equations for the voltages of the induction motor are presented in relative units in a coordinate system rotating at a synchronous speed. The values have been obtained for the torques, the rotational frequencies and the currents when starting at a high speed and passing from high to low speed.

The paper introduces the results of mathematical simulation of the operating modes of an asynchronous motor when powered by a sinusoidal voltage source and a width-modulated voltage pulse source. The study shows the possibilities of increasing the energy efficiency of an asynchronous electric drive. Findings of research show the feasibility of studying the switching of the motor power source from a pulse width-modulated voltage to a sinusoidal voltage source in the nominal operating mode in order to increase the energy efficiency of the electric drive

Most customarily used motor in the industries are induction motor due to its low cost, robustness and less maintenance. The change in the existing framework is necessary in order to make the motor more efficient one. This paper cast enlightenment about the PLC based 3 phase multi-starter control induction motor with energy efficient single control system. In order to start the engine's operation by its own power, starters are used. Various starters are available to initiate the 3-phase induction motor namely Direct On-line, Star-delta, autotransformer and rotor impedance. The employment of this PLC based techniques helps to increase the energy efficiency of the motor .The employability of PLC in this system is to help in the growth of automation. The hardware and software results of the multi starter control using single control systems are analysed
