AbstractWith a global extent, the pandemic of the new coronavirus and the resulting measures to contain the contagion imposed immediate changes in the routine of people and societies. In view of this historical event, the first part of this theoretical study discussed its relationship with the concept of crisis, while circumscribing human development processes, mobilizing reorganizations in life trajectories. In the second part, the intensification of the use of digital tools to support communication during social isolation was highlighted, particularly reflecting on new interactive arrangements and inter-corporeal experiences. The paper reflects on the proximal processes in the new interactive and contextual configurations through the bioecological theory of human development and, based on concepts of the enactive theory, discusses possible implications of the new perceptual fields and the production of meanings with the repositioning of the body and new modes of engagement. The study highlights that the changes, events, relationships, and effects that we are experiencing (trans)form our forms of sociability and bases of psyche.

This article proposes Urie Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological theory of human development as an interpretive lens for recognizing the challenges presented to the adolescent children of immigrant adults. His ecological framework helps us recognize how these adolescents are caught between cultures and experience the cultural divide differently than their parents, elders, and Anglo age peers. It includes suggestions for how ministers might assist these adolescents and elders to bridge what divides them from each other and the culture.

In the field of teaching and learning, there are different factors underlying school performance, which can be addressed from the perspective of the bioecological theory of human development. The present work aims to understand the low school performance of children from the bioecological model of human development by Urie Bronfenbrenner, investigating learning in a holistic way, not attending to a single element. The study addresses the interrelationship between the family and school environments, showing that the context is a structuring component of the child’s development and learning, as well as providing an understanding of low school performance from the reciprocal interactions between individual and contextual characteristics.

The environment for the development of talent is composed of psychological, social and physiological aspects, beyond the physical and material conditions that influence such development, inside and outside the world of sport. The aim of this study was to verify if the context of Brazilian athletics can be a propelling or inhibiting element in the development of athletes. For this reason, 19 athletes of both sexes were interviewed, in the categories of under-18 and under-20, and five managers of five teams among the 35 best classified by results in the competitions held in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The interview model was based on the seven factors in the Talent Development Environment Questionnaire, created by Martindale. The analysis model was based on Bronfenbrenner's bioecological theory, which seeks to analyse human development through proximate processes, people's characteristics, context and time. The theories used consider the talent environment in a generalized way. Among the results obtained, it was found that the main differences present between the contexts, both for athletes and managers, are in the physical and human structures. The teams that presented the best results are those that have a greater number of teachers and a better infrastructure and, therefore, can serve a greater number of athletes. It is concluded that the development environment impacts sports performance and the progression that the athlete will have in his career.

Abstract This paper examines the development, sustainability and importance of positive working relationships between grandparents raising grandchildren (“grandparents”) and school district staff through the application of Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological theory of human development. Grandparents have unique needs and often lack adequate resources, knowledge, and support when engaging in their new and often sudden role as primary caregiver of a grandchild. Access to educational resources, adequate information, and school district support is critical as a grandchild transitions into their grandparent’s home. This inquiry aims to develop a conceptual framework for understanding how forming and maintaining positive working relationships between grandparents and school district staff will systematically and adequately address the educational needs of grandparents and their grandchild’s academic success. Tenets of the bioecological model include the application of proximal processes that outline the need for frequent and regular interactions between a person and their environment over extended periods of time. The purpose of this study is to develop positive pathways of support through the application of the interconnected elements of proximal processes of the bioecological theory including process, person, context, and time, and the five bioecological interactive (micro-, meso-, exo-, macro-, chrono-) systems of human development. More specifically, educational needs of grandparents as caregivers are addressed through tenets of the bioecological theory to inform school districts and encourage the development of positive working relationships and effective education navigation protocols to better serve this unique and growing population.

The paper represents an overview of the developmental line of J. Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological theory and its key characteristics in each developmental phase. It took three decades from the first integral representation of this theory to its mature form. That line is marked by an essential shift from the ecological to bioecological concept of human development. If we pretend to conduct a biecological valid research, it is very important to learn about teh development of this theory, even more since it is very often conceptualized as only ecological, without using its revised and complete version in research.  The analysts of the Bronfenbrenner theory recognized only a few researche, among all that are declarative based on bioecological theory, that really uses bioecological “PPCT“ model as the research design. The need for this kind of overview of this “theory in development“ is highlighted more by the fact that in our region is available the very first, ecological version of the Bronfenbrenner's theory (1997, Екологија људског развоја).

Although well positioned to work with families of young children, nurses do not yet have a theory that guides practice and research by relating infant sleep to child and family development. The authors of this paper describe a proposed theory that combines Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological theory of human development with the Barnard model of parent-child interaction to inform nursing practice and research related to infant sleep and optimizing child and family development. The theory focuses on sustainability of change in family processes and infant sleep, with a goal of optimizing family wellness as the proximal environment for child development.
