In the field of teaching and learning, there are different factors underlying school performance, which can be addressed from the perspective of the bioecological theory of human development. The present work aims to understand the low school performance of children from the bioecological model of human development by Urie Bronfenbrenner, investigating learning in a holistic way, not attending to a single element. The study addresses the interrelationship between the family and school environments, showing that the context is a structuring component of the child’s development and learning, as well as providing an understanding of low school performance from the reciprocal interactions between individual and contextual characteristics.

SoTL scholars have written about the importance and utility of teaching from a guiding theoretical framework. In this paper, ecological theory and specifically Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological model, is examined as a potential framework for synthesizing SoTL research findings to inform teaching and learning scholarship at the college level. A general overview of the bioecological model of human development and its application to the SoTL literature are provided. The benefit of adopting an ecologically-based framework to better understand and exploit the interdisciplinary nature of SoTL is discussed.

A series of six papers on “Youth Development in Europe: Transitions and Identities” has now been published in the European Psychologist throughout 2008 and 2009. The papers aim to make a conceptual contribution to the increasingly important area of productive youth development by focusing on variations and changes in the transition to adulthood and emerging identities. The papers address different aspects of an integrative framework for the study of reciprocal multiple person-environment interactions shaping the pathways to adulthood in the contexts of the family, the school, and social relationships with peers and significant others. Interactions between these key players are shaped by their embeddedness in varied neighborhoods and communities, institutional regulations, and social policies, which in turn are influenced by the wider sociohistorical and cultural context. Young people are active agents, and their development is shaped through reciprocal interactions with these contexts; thus, the developing individual both influences and is influenced by those contexts. Relationship quality and engagement in interactions appears to be a fruitful avenue for a better understanding of how young people adjust to and tackle development to productive adulthood.

AbstractWith a global extent, the pandemic of the new coronavirus and the resulting measures to contain the contagion imposed immediate changes in the routine of people and societies. In view of this historical event, the first part of this theoretical study discussed its relationship with the concept of crisis, while circumscribing human development processes, mobilizing reorganizations in life trajectories. In the second part, the intensification of the use of digital tools to support communication during social isolation was highlighted, particularly reflecting on new interactive arrangements and inter-corporeal experiences. The paper reflects on the proximal processes in the new interactive and contextual configurations through the bioecological theory of human development and, based on concepts of the enactive theory, discusses possible implications of the new perceptual fields and the production of meanings with the repositioning of the body and new modes of engagement. The study highlights that the changes, events, relationships, and effects that we are experiencing (trans)form our forms of sociability and bases of psyche.

Family resilience is an important factor in human development. Various ways can be done to build it. Pre-marital guidance is an effort to answer the problem of family resilience. This study aims to describe the form of the family resilience program at the Ciawi Religious Affairs Office and its suitability in addressing the problem of family resilience, which in this case is the problem of early marriage. This type of research is qualitative research with an analytic study approach. This study resulted in the findings that of the three family resilience programs in the KUA Ciawi, the Pusaka Sakinah program has steps that lead to overcoming the problem of early marriage in the form of cross-sectional services, where the KUA can work together with schools. By aligning pre-marital guidance with the school curriculum to provide an understanding of everything related to early marriage. And to realize the cooperation of the Ciawi KUA with the school, a clear, systematic, and directed program is needed that has not been stated concretely in the implementation instructions for the Sakina Heritage. This research is expected to generate new ideas or strategies in an effort to increase family resilience through the Pusaka Sakinah program.

Abstrak

Ketahanan keluarga merupakan faktor penting dalam membangun manusia. The research developed aims to present the school as a place of promotion to knowledge, where the educating will have the opportunity to take ownership of the necessary contents to develop and to have a social life. However, the student may experience difficulty in learning because of the lack of school inclusion, or for family and personal problems. In this sense comes the action of the Psychoeducator in the search for answers for each particularity. With investigative work, it is possible to create working methods with this student so that their difficulty is remedied. In the face of the new school paradigms, the work of the psychoeducator is essential as an intermediator in the educational process. In this context this professional gains the role of renewing the concepts of teaching and of adapting the methodologies and practices, so that in this computerized era where the information is transmitted in real time, the student is achieved in its difficulties, yearnings and fears. Thus, this work presents within the analytical, bibliographic and exploratory research a reflection on such facts, consolidating the role of the Psychoeducator, and concluding through this study the purpose of this professional that will develop its Work favoring and guiding the process of teaching and learning and human development.

The development of Internet-based school networks, facilitating the creation of virtual classes, has implications for the professional education of teachers who are increasingly likely to teach both face-to-face and online. In the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, pre-service teachers are being prepared for networked school environments within which on-site and online teaching and learning are required. Teachers are provided with a structure within which to manage collaboration that includes learning circles and cybercells. Within networked school environments, virtual classes have been developed for teaching an expanding range of subjects at high school level.

This article proposes Urie Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological theory of human development as an interpretive lens for recognizing the challenges presented to the adolescent children of immigrant adults. His ecological framework helps us recognize how these adolescents are caught between cultures and experience the cultural divide differently than their parents, elders, and Anglo age peers. It includes suggestions for how ministers might assist these adolescents and elders to bridge what divides them from each other and the culture.

Kerala is considered as the most social advanced state of India, and can in many respects be seen as “the Scandinavia of India”. But despite the fact that Kerala scores high on the Human Development Index as well as many other welfare indicators, there are arguments that generalized trust—when people trust most people even if they do not know them—is low. In this text, Kerala is sometimes compared to Sweden, one social-democratic well-developed welfare state in Scandinavia, and it is argued that the family constellations, the historical relations between the working-class movement, the employers and the government, as well as the extensive remittance economy characterising Kerala, have reduced trust through creating large inequalities and decreasing civil engagement.
