This Special Issue contains innovative research papers on the characterization, chemical composition and physical properties of honey. This constitutes very useful information to avoid frauds and to guarantee the authenticity of this food product. The knowledge of the particularities of honey is increasingly demanded by beekeepers and consumers, and also by labs to typify honeys according to their botanical origin and to check their quality. Melissopalynological, sensorial and physicochemical techniques are being used to study the characteristics of honeys samples from different plant sources and geographical areas. The combination of these analytical techniques with mathematical and statistical methods or chemometrics allows researchers to identify a set of variables or individual parameters that define independent samples, providing a practical solution to classify honey according to the geographical or the botanical origin.

Research studies have indicated that English as a Foreign/Second Language students attending English medium universities have problems in writing the literature review, an important requirement in their term and/or research papers. It has been noted that the main challenges these students face are often little or no knowledge of the task, organization and critical analysis needed. Effective literature reviews based on the western model have shown to include evaluation, clarification, integration, synthesis and organization of the controversies in past and current research on the topic being studied and identification of the gaps in the field and the question(s)/solution(s) which the researcher is attempting to address. Although much has been written on how to write literature reviews in various disciplines, there is little or none with L1 Arabic students in the Lebanese context. This paper outlines some teaching/learning guidelines of the task based on one organizational structure, the argumentative, and a critical analysis perspective to help develop these students’ skills in writing the literature review.

The article discusses the methodological difficulties associated with the spread of statistical methods of data processing in psychological works. In particular, there is a simplification of the understanding of statistics by researchers, which increasingly leads to the adoption of the hypothesis of the presence of the effect, in a situation where it is not. There is a brief review of publications and examples where this issue is the subject of critical analysis. Presented a research which showed that in the repetition of experiments published in reputable journals, the significance accepted in the scientific community was observed only in 39% of the works — this effect was called the “publication shift”. The article discusses ways to solve this problem, in particular, meta-analysis, through which it is possible to confirm the results of a series of experiments relating to one problem — subject to the availability of information about the design and openness of raw data. An understanding of the probabilistic nature of statistical results must be mandatory for the evaluation of studies

The urgency of the study necessitates participation in the coverage of wars of aggression, which require participation in the struggle against four members of Lenin to replenish the power of the Ukrainian People's Republic, as well as the establishment of a communist regime that helps mass terror and voting in Ukrainian organizations. The purpose of the articles is to reveal the main forms, methods and means of the Russian communist regime's next turn of Ukrainian lands, the overthrow of the independent UPR, total increase of agricultural and industrial products that use mass terror and food dictatorship, which caused the terrible Holodomor. To solve the problems, chronological, historical-legal, historical-comparative, structural, analytical-critical and statistical methods are used, which contribute to the objective and comprehensive study of the problem. The results of the study: a critical analysis of the ideological and political principles of decrees, resolutions, directives and orders of the Central Committee of the RCP (B) and the RSFSR SNC, which testified to their purposeful content and nature of the Russian Bolsheviks' aggressive policy towards Ukraine.

The chapter deals with critical thinking (CT) theoretical modeling. CT is explained as a multifaceted phenomenon that should be examined systematically on interdisciplinary platform. The prototype of such a platform is that of cognitive sciences. The basic issues linked to an interdisciplinary research of CT are: relations between CT and language, logical and cognitive operations in the process of critical analysis, methods of CT and their anchoring in the methodology of science, the process of CT in relation to personal dispositions and attitudes, possibilities of development, and evaluation of CT within educational and learning processes. The possibilities of a CT development are specified in the scientific methodology classes where students are guided through propositional logic, towards the analysis of judgments and arguments so they are capable of drafting research papers that have explanatory and argumentative character. The mutual conditionality between the scientific methodology, the procedure of scientific research, and the basic thought operation of CT is stressed.

The goal of this research is to shed additional light on the internationalisation of scholarly publishing in Croatia through research based on the bibliometric analysis of the journal Društvena Istraživanja (DI). The first part of this research is dedicated to bibliometric analysis of DI since its conception in 1992, while the second part discusses the internationalisation of scientific journals in Croatia, relying on the critical analysis of relevant literature and the bibliometric characteristics of DI. The results of this research call into question the relevance of the existing scientific publishing policy to contribute to quality research papers and their internationalisation. The research provides implications for both editorial and publishing policies, as well as science policies in general.

AbstractScientific writing presents a set of rhetorical strategies to effectively express mitigation of claims. Critical analysis includes epistemic modality and evidentiality within these attenuating devices. In my view, the basis for these inclusions lies in a truth-value interpretation of the data. In the present article, my main objective is to show that, while epistemic modality can indeed convey mitigation of a proposition, evidentiality does not behave in a similar way. My intention is also to demonstrate following Cornillie and Delbecque (2008) that the use of evidentiality is to show the authors' construal of information rather than to imply authorial commitment to or indecision regarding the information presented. To this end, I will produce two different analyzes of the same data when coming to the description of evidentials, one that concerns a pragmatic interpretation. The study is conducted on a corpus of English and Spanish medical research articles from which instances of epistemic and evidential devices with a scope over a proposition are excerpted. The use of a contrastive analysis is twofold: first I want to detect preferences for any of these devices in two different languages, and second I also aim to discover whether these devices report a similar behavior in both cultures.
