This paper describes the newly introduced Ruston TA2500 gas turbine. The design is based on that of the well proven TA1750 and retains its outstanding features of reliability, long life, and ease of maintenance. Component efficiencies have been improved to increase the overall thermal performance and the Ruston designed solid-state control system with its Rustronic solid-state governor has been incorporated to give greater operating flexibility. Other changes include a compressor driven auxiliary gearbox which obviates the necessity for motor driven auxiliary pumps and a new design of frame similar to that of the Ruston TB5000 gas turbine.

This paper describes the design and development of a new series 3000 two-shaft regenerative and simple cycle gas turbine for mechanical drive applications. Technical advances in the areas of aero-thermal, mechanical, controls, and materials design were combined to produce a machine with a regenerative cycle thermal efficiency of 32%. Increased automation and adaptability to remote control were provided by a new solid state control system and high pressure hydraulics.

Ciliary and flagellar beating requires the coordinated action of multiple dyneins with different enzymatic and motor properties. In this issue, Yamamoto et al. (2013. J. Cell Biol. http://dx.doi.org/10.1083/jcb.201211048) identify the MIA (modifier of inner arms) complex within the Chlamydomonas reinhardtii axoneme that physically links to a known regulatory structure and provides a signaling conduit from the radial spokes to an inner arm dynein essential for waveform determination.

The article presents main properties of the federal projects of the National project «Health care», as well as the main activities of those projects, in which Roszdravnadzor has a particular interest. The article depicts the control and monitoring system applied by the Department of state control of implementation of state healthcare programs of Rosdravnadzor, which allows to detect in real time the subjects of the Russian Federation that have the highest risk of falling short of the targeted indicator of the regional projects and to take this information into account during the development of the plan for the control and surveillance activities.

A control system has been developed for a high-quality generating set (150-kW) equipped with a two-shaft gas turbine featuring a variable power turbine nozzle. Because this generating set satisfies stringent frequency stability requirements, it can be employed as the direct electric power source for computer centers without using constant-voltage, constant-frequency power supply systems. Conventional generating sets of this kind have normally been powered by single-shaft gas turbines, which have a larger output shaft inertia than the two-shaft version. Good frequency characteristics have also been realized with the two-shaft gas turbine, which provides superior quick start ability and lower fuel consumption under partial loads.
