Form Honing of Piston Running Surfaces

This paper discusses various methods for form machining of cylinder bores. One alternative is to use so-called torque plates. Torque plates are deformation elements with identical or similar deformation properties as the cylinder head together with the cylinder head gasket. With this deformation element, the cylinder block is clamped using the cylinder head bolts during the honing operation. Various designs of torque plates are presented here — torque plates which are already being used for serial production as well as newly developed, production optimised designs. As an alternative to the use of a torque plate, the kinematics of the honing procedure can be controlled. In this form honing method, not only static deformations but also dynamic and thermal deformations can be taken into account while producing the negative form.

Press tool is a press tool used to cut or form a thin plate into the desired shape with a pressing or press machine. This press tool is designed to be able to produce goods in bulk with a relatively short processing time without reducing the quality of the product, so that work efficiency can be improved and can reduce production costs. The design of the press tool for making cylinder head gaskets (3XA - E 1181 - 00) is a Yamaha F1ZR motor with a thickness of 0.5 mm made from ST37 through two processes, namely the embossing process, besides forming, the punch embossing also functions as a stripper. stock), followed by the cutting tool (piercing and blanking) process. Judging from the type of construction, this press tool belongs to the type of compound tool. In the process of making construction products this type has two workmanship functions but in one step work. The force that occurs is the sum of the cutting force (F _p = Us. R_m). The punch center calculation is useful for knowing the center of emphasis. This component is a gas leak retaining plate on the engine cylinder located between the cylinder block and cylinder head.

The environment under which a cylinder-head gasket has to function is reviewed and a typical cylinder head to cylinder block assembly is considered, outlining the temperature variations in the inlet and exhaust ports. Curves showing head-face to block-face movement for varying engine speeds and coolant temperatures are reviewed with power units running at accelerated gasket destruction test conditions. Comparisons are made between cast-iron block and aluminium head and cast-iron head and block for both petrol and diesel engines.

The work contains calculations to determine the deformation and stress in the block of a currently produced small displacement compression ignition engine. It is also an attempt to introduce some modifications to reduce the mass of the calculated component. In the first step, based on measurements, the model of the engine block was developed. The Autodesk Inventor 2016 software was used. Two additional components were also designed to provide the block closure: a simplified cylinder head and an integrated main bearing support. All elements were imported to the Siemens NX 12 program. The calculations were carried out for different cylinders and different values of the combustion pressure. An attempt was made to introduce some modifications to reduce the weight of the calculated element.
