ABSTRACTDaptomycin is inactivated by pulmonary surfactant, but its effectiveness in hematogenous pulmonary infection has been poorly studied. The potential therapeutic application was evaluated in a methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus(MRSA) hematogenous pulmonary infection mouse model. Compared with control results, daptomycin improved survival (P< 0.001) and decreased the number of abscesses and bacteria in the lungs (P< 0.01). Daptomycin may be an effective therapeutic option for MRSA hematogenous pulmonary infection.
