The aim of this investigation was to assess the possible use of sulfuric lignins for the purification of industrial liquid wastes. The adsorption of anionic (SDS), cationic (CPC), and non-ionic (NPPO) surfactants on charred plant material was carried out under various pH and temperature conditions. Ionic and hydrophobic interactions are involved in the adsorption process. The analysis of the adsorption kinetics in aqueous and alcoholic media allowed the mode of adsorption to be characterized. The plot of the surfactant uptake against the square root of time led to the determination of the mode of diffusion. The effect of the chain length of alkylsulfates on their adsorption corroborated the involvement of hydrophobic interactions and could be correlated with the values of their cmc.

Numerous articles on Salvia officinalis L. have been published regarding the composition of their essential oil. The considerable variation found may be due to the quality of the plant material as well as to the methods used for analysis. A simple GC-MS method was developed and optimized in the QbD approach, for the determination of sage essential oils. The optimization of GC-MS analysis was performed using different mobile phase flows, injection volumes, split ratios and temperature programs. The optimized method proved to be simple and can be successfully applied for the determination of sage essential oils.

Dry waters with an average diameter of 82 μm were prepared by a high speed mixed route. The formaldehyde absorption kinetics of dry waters was investigated by simulating indoor formaldehyde pollution in glass chamber. The results showed that pseudo-second order model could be used to simulate the adsorption process; the adsorption rate was highest in the initial 60 minutes; when the adsorption lasted for 180 minutes, the adsorption reached equilibrium.
