In this paper, we present a new method increasing quality factor of active filter structure in the literature and a new designed filter. The new method is easily applied to all different filter modes with the proper feedback circuit. The center frequency of the filter remains constant as quality factor of filter increases. Also, quality factor can be also tuned electronically by changing the biasing current of the feedback circuit. Furthermore, the performance of the method is demonstrated by CMOS simulation of differential voltage current conveyor and transconductance amplifier. Quality factor value of the filter can also be easily adjusted electronically between 1 and 20 with the presented method. Finally, an application example of the presented method is presented for double tuned amplifier for intermediate frequency pre-amplifier of FM receiver.

A universal voltage-mode filter (VM) and a current-mode filter (CM) based on recently proposed active building block, namely, differential voltage current conveyor transconductance amplifier (DVCCTA) are proposed. Both the circuits use a single DVCCTA, two capacitors, and a single resistor. The filters enjoy low-sensitivity performance and low component spread and exhibit electronic tunability of filter parameters via bias currents of DVCCTA. SPICE simulation using 0.25 μm TSMC CMOS technology parameters is included to show the workability of the proposed circuits.

In this paper, a new active element namely Dual-X current conveyor differential input transconductance amplifier (DXCCDITA) is proposed. The DXCCDITA is utilized in designing four minimum component fully cascadable all pass filter (APF) structures. The designed all pass filters require only single active element and one/two passive elements for realization thus making them a minimum component implementation. Two among the four presented all pass structures require only a single capacitor for implementation. A scheme for realizing nth order all pass filter is also suggested and a fourth order voltage mode (VM) filter is developed from the proposed scheme. The effect of non-idealities on the proposed all pass filters is also studied. A simple oscillator is also developed using one of the all pass filter structure. The oscillator required only one DXCCDITA, two capacitors and one resistor for implementation. The DXCCDITA is implemented in 0.35[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m TSMC CMOS technology parameters and tested in Tanner EDA. Sufficient numbers of simulations are provided to establish the functionality of all pass structures. The experimental results using commercially available integrated circuits (ICs) are also provided.

A voltage-mode universal biquadratic filter using a differential voltage current conveyor (DVCC), two capacitors, and two resistors is presented. The proposed circuit has four input terminals and three output terminals and can realize all the standard filter functions, which are lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch, and allpass filters, without changing the circuit topology. Three simultaneous output filter responses can be obtained from some derived filter types. The proposed circuit employs only one DVCC that simplifies the configuration.
