In this short communication it is shown that it is possible to undertake inexpensive but useful preliminary mineral studies using single–wire HGMS. Such studies enable an assessment to be made of the viability of HGMS as a large-scale processing technique for particular mineral slurries.

Research on the effect of main spindle deformation which is caused by hobbing force of gear hobbing machine is an important way to diminish or control the machining tolerance of gear. This paper bases on the structure and technique parameter of some typical large-scale NC gear hobbing machine, and the theory of bend and deformation of beam, a novel equation was proposed in this paper to calculate the hobbing force and deformation by practical hobbing parameter. By calculating and analyzing gear hobbing force and deformation data, we can conclude a change rule between hobbing force and deformation with spindle rotative velocity and hobbing depth. And we can reach a conclusion that we should increase hob rotative velocity and feed in a small hobbing depth in several times, it will diminish cutting force, deformation of hob and workpiece spindle, which will improve the machining precision, efficiency and diminish product scrap ratio. It also prove this research approach has reference value for optimizing gear hobbingmachine structure design, choice of processing technique parameter and machining error prediction and compensation.

This paper presents a new automatic feature extraction technique and a neural network based classification method for recognition of rotating images. The image processing technique extracts global features of an image and converts a large size image into a one-dimensional small vector. A special advantage of the proposed technique is that the extracted features are the same even if the original image is rotated with rotation angles from 5 to 355 or rotated and a little bit distorted. The proposed approach technique is based on simple co-ordinate geometry, fuzzy sets and neural networks. The proposed approach is very easy in implementation and its has been developed in C++ on a Sun workstation. The experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed approach performs successfully on a variety of small as well as large scale rotated and distorted images.

Laboratory research on the mineral processing technique of a specularite ore from Baxi was performed, while the processes including gravity separation, low intensity magnetic separation(LIMS) -high intensity magnetic separation(HIMS)-gravity separation was adopted. The run-of-mine ore was milled till the -0.074 mm range accounts for 50% and treated through a LIMS – HIMS process, with the magnetic field strength of LIMS being 95.52 kA/m and HIMS,1.2T. As a result, an iron concentrate grading about 67.58% at a recovery of 96.21% can be obtained, which are rather good metallurgical performances. The iron concentrate with high grade also could be beneficiated by table separation, but its recovery is lower than it obtained from intensive LIMS – HIMS dressing.

The new forms of written online communication offer a great resource for researchers interested in language variation and use, but more large-scale systematic research into the nature of the data is needed. For instance, Swedish blog data is often described as more informal and spoken in nature than traditional edited written material but overall systematic comparisons are lacking. This short communication contributes systematic comparisons between blog data and spoken and written registers by comparing measures such as type/token ratios and word frequencies. Type/token ratios of blog texts are found to lie between those for interactive speech and formal edited writing, whereas the distribution of words from different frequency bands is closer to the written material. Comparison of the ten most frequent word forms indicates that blog data resembles formal edited writing from a structural perspective, but also suggests that further studies into features of personal involvement may provide additional insights.

<p>Quartz sand deposit Ravno is the biggest quartz sand deposit in the Dolenjska region in Slovenia with an area of 1.25 km2. Quartz sand at the site is selectively excavated using mechanical methods. Presently, at the processing plant near the deposit, the main final mineral processing technique is flotation. Prior to the flotation, quartz sand undergoes classification and attrition. Final products produced at the plant are natural sand, washed sand and floated sand.<br>Recently, mining companies have been turning to simpler processing systems, such as gravity concentration, due to the price increase of floatation reagents, simplicity of the process and lower environmental impact.<br>Overview of the deposit and current methods used in the processing plant are presented, as a prologue to further work on the process alteration possibilities – a change from flotation to gravity concentration.</p>
