This paper describes FieldTrip, an open source software package that we developed for the analysis of MEG, EEG, and other electrophysiological data. The software is implemented as a MATLAB toolbox and includes a complete set of consistent and user-friendly high-level functions that allow experimental neuroscientists to analyze experimental data. It includes algorithms for simple and advanced analysis, such as time-frequency analysis using multitapers, source reconstruction using dipoles, distributed sources and beamformers, connectivity analysis, and nonparametric statistical permutation tests at the channel and source level. The implementation as toolbox allows the user to perform elaborate and structured analyses of large data sets using the MATLAB command line and batch scripting. Furthermore, users and developers can easily extend the functionality and implement new algorithms. The modular design facilitates the reuse in other software packages.

In today's world, the heart of modern technology is software. In order to compete with pace of new technology, changes in software are inevitable. This article aims at the association between changes and object-oriented metrics using different versions of open source software. Change prediction models can detect the probability of change in a class earlier in the software life cycle which would result in better effort allocation, more rigorous testing and easier maintenance of any software. Earlier, researchers have used various techniques such as statistical methods for the prediction of change-prone classes. In this article, some new metrics such as execution time, frequency, run time information, popularity and class dependency are proposed which can help in prediction of change prone classes. For evaluating the performance of the prediction model, the authors used Sensitivity, Specificity, and ROC Curve. Higher values of AUC indicate the prediction model gives significant accurate results. The proposed metrics contribute to the accurate prediction of change-prone classes.

The research highlights the advantages of Open-Source Software in context of providing free access to digital materials, as well as its high level of functionality in order to empower libraries with new technologies for more efficient organization and dissemination of information.

We develop an efficient software package to test for the primality of p2^n+1, p prime and p>2^n. This aids in the determination of large, non-Sierpinski numbers p, for prime p, and in cryptography. It furthermore uniquely allows for the computation of the smallest n such that p2^n+1 is prime when p is large. We compute primes of this form for the first one million primes p and find four primes of the form above 1000 digits. The software may also be used to test whether p2^n+1 divides a generalized fermat number base 3.

Programming a rich Internet application (RIA) in any Web environment is the goal of Laszlo Systems. The open source software, OpenLaszlo Presentation Server, allows a user to run, on any device, applications that blend to perfection a user-centered design. It facilitates development from the basic levels such as creating forms, menus and other components for a website, up to high-level tasks like focusing on the attention of the user, to easily create, for example, an e-commerce website, a full management back office or a trip booking site, all this using animations comparable to those created with proprietary software.

Program  objective:  To  advance  the  methodology  and  improve  the  data  management  of  the  scoping  review through  the  integration  of  two  health  librarians  onto  the  clinical  research  team.  Participants  and  setting:  Two  librarians were  embedded  on  a  multidisciplinary,  geographically  dispersed  pediatric  palliative  and  end-of-life  research  team  conducting a  scoping  review  headquartered  at  the  British  Columbia  Children’s  Hospital  Research  Institute.  Program:  The  team’s embedded  librarians  guided  and  facilitated  all  stages  of  a  scoping  review  of  180  Q3  conditions  and  10  symptoms.  Outcomes: The  scoping  review  was  enhanced  in  quality  and  efficiency  through  the  integration  of  librarians  onto  the  team.  Conclusions: Health  librarians  embedded  on  clinical  research  teams  can  help  guide  and  facilitate  the  scoping  review  process  to  improve workflow  management  and  overall  methodology.  Librarians  are  particularly  well  equipped  to  solve  challenges  arising  from large  data  sets,  broad  research  questions  with  a  high  level  of  specificity,  and  geographically  dispersed  team  members. Knowledge  of  emerging  and  established  citation-screening  and  bibliographic  software  and  review  tools  can  help  librarians  to address  these  challenges  and  provide  efficient  workflow  management.
