We study the excited muon production at the FCC-based muon-hadron colliders. We give the excited muon decay widths and production cross-sections. We deal with the μp→μ⋆q→μγq process and plot the transverse momentum and normalized pseudorapidity distributions of final state particles to define the kinematical cuts best suited for discovery. By using these cuts, we get the mass limits for excited muons. It is shown that the discovery limits obtained on the mass of μ⋆ are 2.2, 5.8, and 7.5 TeV for muon energies of 63, 750, and 1500 GeV, respectively.

We study the composite electron production at the FCC-based three electron–proton colliders with the center-of-mass energies of 3.46, 10 and 31.6 TeV. For the signal process of [Formula: see text], the production cross-sections and decay widths of the excited electrons have been calculated. The differences of some kinematical quantities of the final state particles between the signal and background have been analyzed. For this purpose, transverse momentum and pseudorapidity distributions of electron and photon have been obtained and the kinematical cuts for discovery of the excited electrons have been assigned. We have finally determined the mass limits of excited electrons for observation and discovery by applying these cuts. It is shown that the mass limit for discovery obtained from the collider with [Formula: see text] TeV (called PWFA-LC[Formula: see text]⊗[Formula: see text]FCC) is 22.3 TeV for the integrated luminosity [Formula: see text].

The production potential of the excited neutrinos at the FCC-based electron-hadron colliders, namely, the ERL60⊗FCC with s=3.46 TeV, the ILC⊗FCC with s=10 TeV, and the PWFA-LC⊗FCC with s=31.6 TeV, has been analyzed. The branching ratios of the excited neutrinos have been calculated for the different decay channels and shown that the dominant channel is ν⋆→eW+. We have calculated the production cross sections with the process of ep→ν⋆q→eW+q and the decay widths of the excited neutrinos with the process of ν⋆→eW+. The signals and corresponding backgrounds are studied in detail to obtain accessible mass limits. It is shown that the discovery limits obtained on the mass of the excited neutrino are 2452 GeV for Lint=100 fb-1, 5635 GeV for Lint=10 fb-1 (6460 GeV for Lint=100 fb-1), and 10200 GeV for Lint=1 fb-1 (13960 GeV for Lint=10 fb-1), for the center-of-mass energies of 3.46, 10, and 31.6 TeV, respectively.

Abstract We demonstrate how to efficiently expand cross sections for color-singlet production at hadron colliders around the kinematic limit of all final state radiation being collinear to one of the incoming hadrons. This expansion is systematically improvable and applicable to a large class of physical observables. We demonstrate the viability of this technique by obtaining the first two terms in the collinear expansion of the rapidity distribution of the gluon fusion Higgs boson production cross section at next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) in QCD perturbation theory. Furthermore, we illustrate how this technique is used to extract universal building blocks of scattering cross section like the N-jettiness and transverse momentum beam function at NNLO.

The transverse momentum distribution of the differential production cross-sections of heavy flavored charm hadrons [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] in pp collisions at 7 TeV are simulated. Predictions of DPMJETIII.17-1, HIJING1.383 and Sibyll2.3c are compared to the differential cross-section measurements of the LHCb experimental data presented in the region of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], where the pp center of mass frame is used to measure the transverse momentum and rapidity. The models reproduce only some regions of [Formula: see text] and/or bins of [Formula: see text] but none of them predict completely all the [Formula: see text] bins over the entire [Formula: see text] range.

The interaction of 400 GeV/c protons and 340 GeV/c π- with nucleons in nuclear emulsion has been investigated. The interaction mean free paths (m.f.p.) and the corresponding reaction cross-sections (σ in ) have been found, the multiplicity distributions for the events with Nh = 0 (clean events) are measured and studied as well as the angular and pseudorapidity distributions. Finally the coherent multiparticle production cross-sections (σ coh ) were estimated and compared with other data, where it was found to be increasing slowly with increasing incident momentum for protons while it increases rapidly with increasing π--momentum.

Abstract Central exclusive and semiexclusive production of "Equation missing" pairs is measured with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC at center-of-mass energies of 5.02 and 13TeV. The theoretical description of these nonperturbative processes, which have not yet been measured in detail at the LHC, poses a significant challenge to models. The two pions are measured and identified in the CMS silicon tracker based on specific energy loss, whereas the absence of other particles is ensured by calorimeter information. The total and differential cross sections of exclusive and semiexclusive central "Equation missing" production are measured as functions of invariant mass, transverse momentum, and rapidity of the "Equation missing" system in the fiducial region defined as transverse momentum "Equation missing" and pseudorapidity "Equation missing". The production cross sections for the four resonant channels "Image missing" , "Equation missing", "Image missing" , and "Image missing" are extracted using a simple model. These results represent the first measurement of this process at the LHC collision energies of 5.02 and 13TeV.

In this paper, we have studied (anti)neutrino induced charged current quasielastic (CCQE) scattering from some nuclear targets in the energy region of [Formula: see text]. Our aim is to confront electron and muon production cross-sections relevant for [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] oscillation experiments. The effects due to lepton mass and its kinematic implications, radiative corrections, second class currents (SCCs) and uncertainties in the axial and pseudoscalar form factors are calculated for (anti)neutrino induced reaction cross-sections on free nucleon as well as the nucleons bound in a nucleus where nuclear medium effects influence the cross-section. For the nuclear medium effects, we have taken some versions of Fermi gas model (FGM) available in the literature. The results for (anti)neutrino–nucleus scattering cross-section per interacting nucleons are compared with the corresponding results in free nucleon case.

Production cross-sections of color-sextet quarks at hadron colliders are estimated in various energies and the results are compared with cross-sections of the conventional top quark productions. Particular attentions are paid for a model recently proposed in Ref. 2 in order to explain the dynamical mechanism of the electroweak symmetry breaking. The model may be tested at SSC and LHC if the sextet quarks dominantly decay semileptonically through effective fourfermion interactions, or if the sextet quarks have long enough lifetime to reach the detectors.

The production of the sigma (σ) meson is investigated in the quantum molecular dynamics model for the p+A reactions with the nuclei A being 12 C , 40 Ca and 208 Pb at the incident proton energies Ep = 1.50 GeV . The simulation results indicates a distinctive A dependence of the sigma production, that is, the increase of A is followed by an increase of the production cross-sections. The σ meson production in proton induced reactions is strongly medium-dependent, and the produced σ mesons decaying in a denser medium experience a stronger mass shift towards lower masses. This mass shift is an experimentally accessible observable in the final state pion pairs which did not suffer reabsorption by the surrounding nucleons. It is pointed out that the ratio of the simulation results of measurable σ mesons (in the form of two pions) cross-sections as a function of the sigma invariant-mass from various reactions opens the possibility to address experimentally the mass shift of the σ in a dense nuclear environment.
