Due to the unbalance distribution of network resources and network traffic, congestion is an inherent property of the Internet. The consensus congestion controller based on the multiagent system theory is designed for the multirouter topology, which improves the performance of the whole networks. Based on the analysis of the causes of congestion, the topology of multirouter networks is modeled based on the graph theory and the network congestion control problem is described as a consensus problem in multiagent systems. Simulation results by MATLAB and Ns2 indicate that the proposed algorithm maintains a high throughput and a low packet drip ratio and improves the quality of the service in the complex network environment.

As a new network paradigm, software-defined networks (SDN) are able to cope with the limitations of traditional networks. SDNs use a management controller with a global view of the network and switching devices that act as packet forwarding equipment, known as «OpenFlow switches». Network resources limitations and ensuring quality of service requirements lead to an important need for load balancing between SDN switches. The purpose of work  research and analysis of load balancing processes in SDN based on genetic algorithm. To confirm the effectiveness and correctness of the genetic algorithm in SDN, the software for modeling the load balancing processes has been developed. The simulation results confirmed the efficiency of the genetic algorithm in SDN for balancing and redistributing network traffic in order to ensure the required quality of service and reduce network congestion.

The problem of the of a non-stationary system state predicting is considered. The decision based on the joint processing of the results obtained by a group of independent statistical extrapolators. In the terminology of multiagent systems, each extrapolator is an intelligent agent. The quality of the agent solutions is evaluated on retrospective data and is used as weight characteristic in the problem of a terminal solution estimation. The specificity of non-stationary processes with a chaotic system component leads to the empiricca version of the forecast generation algorithm

ABSTRACT In a smart city, the subject of the congestion-free traffic has been leading objectives from the past decade, and many approaches are adopted to make congestion-free roads. These approaches and signals at one junction are not inter-linked with the signal at the previous one. Therefore, the traffic flow on the same road and at associative roads is not smooth. The study proposed a model with a hybrid computational approach in which the current signal incorporates the associative signals information. Simulation results have shown that the proposed approach gives more attractive results as compared to previously published approaches. It will help improve the flow of traffic and reduce traffic congestion.

Multimedia communications over Internet should achieve adequate quality of service (QoS) while maintaining 'fairness' in network resources allocation with respect to competing connections. The fairness is usually achieved by means of the congestion control, which could induce high variations on the perceived throughput and then affecting the QoS. On the other hand, the variations of throughput of the multimedia communication can be neglected if a minimum average throughput is guaranteed to the playout buffer used by the application. These considerations can be exploited to solve the conflicting requirements of fairness and QoS. The transport protocol proposed here is a modified version of the window-based datagram congestion control protocol, that implements a TCP-like congestion control mechanism wherein the multiplicative decrease of the congestion window is controlled by a non-linear function. Experimental results show that this modified congestion control algorithm, which in turn is adjusted at run-time based on the estimated mean round-trip time, is capable to provide the average throughput required by the encoding technique adopted for the multimedia data compression, while guaranteeing the required fairness with respect to competing TCP connections.

Competitive services have large effects on traffic congestion. Based on the investigation on Chinese railway network, a competitive services model is proposed to capture traffic correlations between different services. According to the value of the weight parameter [Formula: see text], competitive services are grouped into assortative, disassortative and neutral ones, in which their traffic loads show strongly positive, weakly positive and non-significant correlations, respectively. Simulation results illustrate that our model can effectively capture the service correlations by adjusting the weight parameter. Using this model, we analyze the influence of different types of competitive services on network congestion. Our results indicate that both capacity and efficiency of network is the lowest when it supports assortative services.

Within the past few years, a great deal of attention has been drawn towards the CDMA system. The state of a CDMA system has two cases: saturation and instauration. After the system is saturated, no more users are allowed to access to CDMA systems with traditional method. In order to enhance the maximum number of users and the all users’ satisfaction while guaranteeing users’ quality of service (QoS) –SINR (signal-to-interference–plus-noise) requirement, this paper presents a degradation scheme based on user satisfaction in CDMA systems. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can be allowed more users to access to and increase the total users’ satisfaction, leading to higher system capacity and resource utilization.

City traffic congestion control as the core problem in ITS, has been paid more and more attention. This article from the actual characteristics of spatial structure of city to divide different traffic levels is based on the flow of people and vehicles that two variables, which foundation underlies a new model of road capacity that describe and analysis the problem of road capacity from the needs of congestion control. Only in this way can we deepen the understanding over the dynamic traffic flow of city, so as to strengthen the purpose of city traffic network congestion and control.

The popularity of the video services on the Internet has evolved various mechanisms that target the Quality of Experience (QoE) optimization of video traffic. The video quality has been enhanced through adapting the sending bitrates. However, rate adaptation alone is not sufficient for maintaining a good video QoE when congestion occurs. This paper presents a cross-layer architecture for video streaming that is QoE-aware. It combines adaptation capabilities of video applications and QoE-aware admission control to optimize the trade-off relationship between QoE and the number of admitted sessions. Simulation results showed the efficiency of the proposed architecture in terms of QoE and number of sessions compared to two other architectures (adaptive architecture and non-adaptive architecture ).

Throughout the years in wireless networks, congestion control has been widely explored. With the point of improving execution and performance in wireless network many techniques and methods have been built up over the years. It is very necessary to solve the issue of congestion control for the quick extension and execution of wireless technology. When a network link or node carries more data than its capacity then network congestion will occurs. In queueing theory and network congestion it reduces the quality of service. Normal impacts of congestion control include packet loss, blocking of new connections and queueing delay. As a result of congestion is to increment in offered load either just to a little increment or even a reduction in system throughput [1].There are many ways to control the congestion in wireless networks. We studied different techniques in this paper and also work through applying TCP friendly rate control.
