With the advancement of digital manufacturing technology, data-driven quality management is getting more and more attention, and it is developing rapidly under the impetus of technology and management. Quality data are growing exponentially with the help of increasingly interconnected devices and IoT (Internet of Things technologies). Aiming at the problems of insufficient quality data acquisition and poor data quality of complex equipment, the research on quality data integration and cleaning based on digital total quality management is carried out. The data integration architecture of complex equipment quality based on multiterminal collaboration is constructed. The architecture integrates a variety of integration methods and standards, such as XML, OPC-UA, and QIF protocol. Then, to unify the data view, a cleaning method of complex equipment quality data based on the combination of edit distance and longest common subsequence similarity calculation is proposed, and its effectiveness is verified. It provides the basis for the design of the digital total quality management system of complex equipment.

The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the role of Total Quality Management (TQM) on business performance in various dimensions. This study proposes a conceptual model that intends to study several research hypotheses. The data were obtained through an online questionnaire, sent to pharmaceutical companies manufactured generic products in Indonesia. The study was conducted based on responses received from 168 valid questionnaires, and it was used partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the hypotheses. Furthermore, we use both of reflective and formative construct with second order/higher order construct in our model of study which is rarely found in the previous study. This research analyzed the dimensions studied in different aspects. TQM variable consists of seven practice, namely management commitment, supplier quality, employee involvement, leadership management, customer orientation, continuous improvement and quality management system, and with respect to business performance, this variable was analyzed through four different perspectives, namely, financial, customer, internal business process and learning & growth. The findings indicate that companies adopt total quality management get improvement in their business performance. Leadership management has greater effect on the successful of TQM practice compared to other TQM dimensions. This study also provides a particular contribution for the companies and expect to be used as feedback related to the execution of their TQM implementation to improve their business performance. During the last decades, both quality management and Knowledge Management (KM) have undergone a progressive evolution and have been associated with keywords such as competition, creativity, or innovativeness. Moreover, literature points to several commonalities between Total Quality Management (TQM) and Knowledge Management. The main aim of this chapter is to highlight the main commonalities, and to analyze how organizations may benefit from a dual strategic approach based on TQM and KM principles, and how integrated knowledge-based quality management system may benefit the “conversion” process of tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge, as well as the knowledge transfer/sharing process.

It is clear that ISO 9000 Quality Management System and Total Quality Management have an extensive literature. However, it is observed that the literature principally focuses on implementation consequences of them. In this study, ISO 9000 Quality Management System certification process in a faculty of a Turkish public university is taken into consideration. However, the study focuses on not only consequences of taking this certification but also its' triggers and processes. To examine these triggers, processes and consequences, data collection methods of the study were semi-structured interviews and unstructured participative observation. In addition, extensive amount of document was used to make triangulation.

The main objective of this study was to examine the effect of total quality management system (TQM) on organisation performance along with the mediating effect of organisation learning in Nepali Service sector. The relationship between the TQM system, organisation learning and organisation performance was examined using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses. Data was collected from 240 respondents (i.e., 118 from the ISO certified and 122 from non-ISO certified organisations). The findings of this study suggested that total quality management system had a significant positive effect on organisation performance and organisation learning mediated the relationship between total quality management system and organisation performance. Out of the seven dimensions of the TQM system only top management support, workforce management, customer relations, supplier quality management and process flow management had a significant positive effect on organisation performance. The results of the independent sample t-test further confirmed the high level of organisation performance in ISO certified organisations.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop a total quality management (TQM) model for healthcare organisations and validate it using a sample of Iranian healthcare organisations. Design/methodology/approach – A validated questionnaire was used to collect data from all healthcare organisations that implemented TQM in Isfahan province, Iran. Findings – Using the proposed model, TQM implementation was measured in healthcare organisations. The level of TQM success in Isfahan healthcare organisations was medium. The highest score was achieved in the dimension of “customer management”, followed by “leadership” and “employee management”. Employee management, information management, customer management, process management and leadership had the most positive effect on TQM success. Using a series of quality management techniques had “synergistic” effect on TQM success. Practical implications – Top management support, effective management of human resources, full involvement of the entire workforce including physicians, education and training, team working, continuous improvement, a corporate quality culture, customer focus and using a combination of management techniques under a quality management system are necessary for TQM successful implementation. Originality/value – A healthcare context-specific model of TQM was developed and tested and suggestions were provided for its successful implementation.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of total productive maintenance (TPM) and total quality management (TQM) practices on operational performance and their inter-relationship. Design/methodology/approach The present study includes three main constructs, namely, TPM, TQM and operational performance of pharmaceutical industry. Under TPM, four constructs, namely, disciplined maintenance, information tracking, housekeeping and operator involvement has been considered with the help of literature. In TQM, four constructs, namely, quality data and reporting, product innovation, research and development (R&D) management and technology management has been considered. Out of 410 Indian pharmaceutical plants contacted for survey, 254 responses have been used in the study for analysis. The factor analysis, path model and structural equation modeling has been used to analyze the proposed framework. The results for alternate models has been studied, interpreted and reported. Finally the direct and indirect effect of TPM and TQM on operational performance has been tested and checked for proving and disproving the hypotheses. Findings TPM practices have a significant impact on plant-level operational performance. When TPM and TQM practices are coming together to achieve operational performance, then TPM is having strong influence on operational performance. TQM is having significant support from TPM to achieve operational performance. TPM impact TQM and TQM in turn helps to achieve operational performance. TPM practices impact significantly R&D, product innovation and technology management, whereas quality data and reporting is the least contributor toward TQM. This may help industry to understand implications of implementation of TPM and TQM to achieve plant-level operational performance. TPM will help to reduce the cost of quality in terms of reduced scrap and less defective products. Practical implications The present study provides the useful insights to practicing managers. In literature it has been mentioned that TQM helps in TPM implementation. In practice TPM plays a great role to achieve quality in processes and therefore in products. In turn quality products, with reduced work in process inventory, less defective products and reduced scrap helps to achieve the operational performance at plant level. TPM practices will help the organization to improve the pace of product innovation and improvement in productivity, which is critical to pharmaceutical industry. The continuous monitoring of TPM practices can help organizations to run day to day operations and maintenance requirement of each machine over a specified period of time. Originality/value The present study diagnoses the inter-dimensional linkage between TPM, TQM and operational performance. The pharmaceutical industry is complex system of advance equipment’s and processes. After human resources, the health of machines/equipment’s describe the strength of an organization. The machines require the regular maintenance to produce the products with desired specifications. The specifications in medicines and very tight, which can be achieved only if machines/testing equipment’s are updated and maintained regularly. The TPM practices will helps the plants to achieve the operational performance by having quality in processes.

Abstract: Implementation of the Total Quality Management in the Learning Quality Management System in Educational Institutions. This study aimed to analyse the implementation of the Total Quality Management (TQM) in the learning quality management system in educational institutions. This study used a descriptive design. The population consisted of people in the organizational structure of the quality management system and the sample was pusposively selected. The data were collected through interviews and documents and were analysed using the descriptive technique. The findings show that: (1) the TQM has been implemented but it still needs optimizing, (2) it needs support from the heads of relevant units, (3) there are constraints because of work teams that are not optimal and limited time and funds, (4) the strategies to deal with the constraints depend on the condition and situation, and (5) the implementation of the TQM refers to an evaluation and monitoring study and the draft of academic quality assurance documents.
