The proposal of LTE in the standardization of cellular network systems has received considerable attention in the research domain, and most subscribers widely use it. Despite the enormous acceptance of the system, academia as an industry is usually disadvantaged in training students due to the cost implication in setting up a prototype. In bridging this gap, simulators are traditionally developed as a testbed to aid students appreciate how these systems work. Although there are several simulators available on the market, these simulators are quite expensive to acquire while others come with license restrictions. In this study, a classical LTE cellular system simulator is proposed as a testbed to aid the education of computer networks at college. The proposed simulator is an extension of the functionality of LTE-Sim frameworks. Usability testing of the proposed study reveals that the system is much easier to simulate the various scenarios in wireless communication.

The paper evaluated implementation of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) scheme for the first ten years of implementation, 2002-2012. Pupil enrolment for the period was projected and the cost implication of implementing the scheme estimated to guide government assess its ability to continue the implementation of the scheme, review its strategies of implementation or even abandon the scheme like the previous experiment with UBE scheme. The two research questions raised for the study were answered using documentary analysis, models and descriptive statistics. The result of analysis showed that over 46 million children would have been enrolled in schools and N52.9 billion spent annually if the scheme had been effectively implemented. The sight of basic school-going aged children at motor parks, markets and hawking along major streets during school hours suggests that the implementation of the scheme has not effective. It was therefore recommended among others that government should concentrate only on the supply and management of basic education in order to garner adequate funds to sustain its implementation and, allow private individuals and non-governmental organizations to supply and manage other levels of education.

Computer network connection is a fundamental thing and is very important in the establishment of internet cafe businesses. LAN network design must also consider the cost budget so that the use of tools can be maximized and not cause losses. If the connection is problematic, then all types of applications that run through a computer network cannot be used. Cisco Packet Tracer can be used for simulations that reflect a picture of the computer network connection on the network system to be used

This chapter highlights the constant increase in the number of attacks on computer network systems, which has pushed governments, researchers, and experts to devise better security policies and strategies. However, the rapid growth of systems, components, and services offered has increased the difficulty of administering them. In many organizations in developed and developing countries, more emphasis is being given on use of Automatic Computing for proper network security. The chapter clarifies how various projects and tools could be relevant for network security. The chapter provides insights about what steps have been taken for network security in a developing country like India. It looks into various strategies adopted for communication data and network security in India. It emphasizes that, with increasing demand for basic/citizen services over the Internet, it has become important to protect data and ensure efficient backup and data recovery. The chapter proposes a need for better and effective policy and strategy for communication data and network security to make the government citizen-oriented in developing countries.

2.5D and 3D applications using through silicon vias (TSVs) are increasingly being considered as a packaging alternative. Miniaturization and high performance product requirements are driving this move – even though in many cases the cost of both 2.5D and 3D is still high. The primary applications for 2.5D interposers with TSVs are GPUs/CPUs, high-end ASICs, and FPGAs. Adoption for FPGAs has already started. The key to the performance gains in recently introduced FPGAs is the partitioning of an FPGA die into four “slices” that are mounted on a silicon interposer or what Xilinx calls its Stacked Silicon Interconnect technology. Applications for interposers include tablets, gaming, and high-end computing and network systems. The drivers are mainly partitioning large die, integrating single chips into a module, reducing die size where substrate density is the constraint, and using the interposer to minimize the stress on large die that are fabricated with extra-low-k (ELK) dielectrics. The primary applications for 3D solutions are stacked memory cubes and memory plus logic. The true 3D nature of stacking all active silicon allows better miniaturization, but yield issues can quickly drive the cost unacceptably high. This analysis examines the cost drivers for 2.5D and 3D applications. Activity based cost models will be used to analyze the complete cost of fabricating and assembling active die on a silicon interposer and active die stacking on other active die. Total product cost impact - not just the cost of a specific activity - is the focus of this analysis. Since yields play a major role in cost, a sensitivity analysis of the different yields including die yield before wafer probe, die yield after wafer probe, TSV yield, interposer yield, assembly yield, substrate yield, etc. will be presented. The critical yield points in the manufacturing flow and dominant activity cost drivers (equipment, material, and /or labor) will be presented as well as suggested minimum thresholds for 2.5D and 3D technology to be a cost effective technology.

This article presents a computer-aided integration tool, iCAD, that can predict a network evolution. We have used the term a network evolution to mean predicting changes within the physical network topology as time evolves. iCAD is connected to four device libraries, each of which contains a distinct set of network-technology devices, such as Ethernet hubs, ATM switches, IP routers, and gateways. As a network technology changes, each device library is updated. Then, we have plotted the cost and performance changes between the old and recent network technologies, enabling us to predict future changes to a first order. This article presents empirical results from 1999 until 2005 recording the network evolution progress, where the lower and upper bounds of network evolution came out to be 10% to 25% and 57% to 74% respectively in terms of network-design cost reduction.
