Abstract The identity of the potamid freshwater crab, Indochinamon manipurense (Alcock, 1909) from the state of Manipur in northeast India, is clarified based on an examination of the type specimens. The species is redescribed and a lectotype designated. Specimens from the same region previously referred to this species were compared to the types of I. manipurense and shown to belong to a new species of Potamiscus Alcock, 1909, instead. The new species, Potamiscus takedai sp. nov., can easily be separated from I. manipurense by the characters in the carapace, third maxilliped, male pleon, male gonopods, and female vulvae. Potamiscus takedai sp. nov. can be differentiated from congeners mainly by the strongly bent terminal segment of the male first gonopod and a relatively shorter distal segment of the male second gonopod.

A new species of the hitherto monotypic gecarcinucid freshwater crab genus, Arcithelphusa Pati & Sudha Devi, 2015, is described from the Western Ghats, in the Wayanad district of Kerala, India. Arcithelphusa tumpikkai sp. nov. can be easily distinguished from the only congener, A. cochleariformis Pati & Sudha Devi, 2015, mainly by its relatively broader carapace, the presence of a short flagellum on the exopod of the third maxilliped, and the relatively less stout male first gonopod, with a sharply bent and relatively long terminal segment. The diagnosis for Arcithelphusa is emended to include the new species, which can be useful in distinguishing it from the closely related genus Cylindrotelphusa Alcock, 1909. The state of Kerala now has 38 species of gecarcinucid crabs, including the present new species.

A new species of freshwater crab of the genus Himalayapotamon Pretzmann, 1966, is described based on specimens collected from various localities in Chamba District in Himachal Pradesh state, northern India. Himalayapotamon chambaensis n. sp. can be distinguished from congeners by several carapace and gonopod characters: a short median longitudinal granular ridge behind the frontal margin which reaches to the epigastric regions, the terminal segment of the male first gonopod is long and distinctly bent outwards, and the male second gonopod has a long and distally coiled distal segment. An identification key to all the 12 species in the genus is provided.

Abstract A new species of freshwater crab of the genus Teretamon Yeo & Ng, 2007, Teretamon husicum sp. nov., is described here from Husa Town, Longchuan County, Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. Teretamon husicum sp. nov. can be distinguished from other species by a suite of morphological characters, including a bilobed frontal margin, smooth posterolateral regions, and a broadly rounded dorsal flap on the G1 terminal segment. An updated identification key for the species of the genus Teretamon is provided.

Mizoram, one of the states in northeast India, is known for its rich bamboo resources. Mizoram has been unceasingly experiencing flowering of bamboo. Recently, a new species of bamboo, Bambusa mizorameana, was described from Mizoram. It is a less common species, and its distributions within the state are also very limited. Specimens were also collected from Manipur. There has been no previous report of its inflorescence. The sporadic flowering of the species in certain areas within the nearby forest of Aizawl city, observed since 2017 are reported in this paper.

We describe a new species of Cyrtodactylus from Guwahati city in the state of Assam, India and provide additional data on the recently described Cyrtodactylus guwahatiensis. Cyrtodactylus urbanus sp. nov. falls in the newly defined khasiensis group within the Indo-Burma clade of Cyrtodactylus and is the poorly supported sister taxon to Cyrtodactylus khasiensis. The new species differs from other members of the khasiensis group in mitochondrial sequence data (12.5–17.1 % uncorrected pairwise ND2 sequence divergence) as well as aspects of morphology including the number and arrangement of precloacal pores in males, the number of mid-ventral scales and paravertebral tubercles, and colour pattern. This is the second Cyrtodactylus endemic to the Guwahati region, the fourth from Assam and the twelfth from Northeast India.

A new species of potamid crab of the genus Teretamon Yeo & Ng, 2007, is described from Namdapha Tiger Reserve in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The new species, T. kempi n. sp., can be distinguished from its congeners by a distinct combination of carapace and gonopod characters: a relatively high carapace with a bilobed frontal margin; subquadrate sixth abdominal somite with nearly parallel lateral margins; and a relatively small G1 terminal segment with a semicircular to bluntly triangular dorsal flap. All known Teretamon species are compared with the new species, and a key for this genus is provided.

A new genus and species belonging to the primary freshwater crab family Potamidae, and a new species of the genus Artopotamon Dai & Chen, 1985, are described on the basis of remarkable G1and female gonopore characters. Semicirculara lincangensis gen. & sp. nov. and Artopotamon latopeos sp. nov. were collected from southwestern and northwestern Yunnan Province, China, respectively. All type specimens are deposited in Nanjing Normal University in Nanjing and the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZCAS) in Beijing. Mitochondrial molecular data, from the partial sequence of the mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene, are also shown to support the distinct systematic position of the new taxa.

A new species of the agamid genus Japalura is described, based on three specimens from Mizoram, northeast India. Japalura otai sp. nov. is most similar to J. planidorsata and J. sagittifera and can be distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of characters: adult size (SVL male 46.4 mm, female 52.2–58.7 mm), tail length/SVL ratio 160.5–187.5%, 10–11 supralabials, 9–12 infralabials, 45–47 middorsal scales, 17–20 lamellae under finger IV, 20–22 lamellae under toe IV, tympanum concealed, axillary fold present, nuchal crest, gular fold and gular pouch absent, enlarged keeled dorsal scales present, body shape subquadrangular in cross section. Japalura sagittifera is here redescribed, a lectotype and a paralectotype designated and photographs of the type specimens made available for the first time. All known localities for these three species are provided. The status of the genus Oriotiaris which was recently revalidated is discussed in detail and again synonymized within Japalura. The currently recognised polyphyletic Japalura is discussed in relation to morphological characteristics.

A new species of freshwater crab of the genus Qianguimon Huang, 2018, is described from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, southern China. It can be distinguished from congeners by the following characters: male first gonopods bent inward at about 45° at base of terminal segment, carapace regions distinct and rugged and the female vulva opening inwards and downwards. In addition, molecular evidence derived from the 16S rRNA gene supported the species described in this study as a new species of Qianguimon.

A new species of freshwater crab of the genus Oziotelphusa Müller, 1887 is described based on specimens collected froma rice field near Balakrushnapur, Ganjam district in Odisha (Orissa) state, eastern India. Oziotelphusa ganjamensis n. sp.is easily differentiated from its congeners by a distinct first gonopod (G1) having terminal segment bent outwards, whosetip is upturned and pointed, and subterminal segment relatively broad in the basal half to two-third portion and then sharply narrows to appear slender in distal half to two-third portion. A key to the Indian species of Oziotelphusa is also provided.
